Nancy is feeling better and didn't have to have a blood transfusion last week. The Dr. was able to give her medicine that brought up her blood count. So thankful for this.

Kelly has been baking and making goodies like crazy. We are just about ready!! Enjoy your time with family and friends!!

This August while my daughter Carrie was visiting from us from Mexico, we went to the Zoo. It turned out to be a very hot August afternoon!! We still had a very good time. My daughters took turns pushing Nancy and me in our wheelchairs. What a job. The most fun was watching Nancy have such a very good time! She loved every minute of our time there!! Nancy is my 49 year old special needs daughter. She had her portable oxygen with her and she was fine. I don't know if I have the picture of Carrie with 2 drinks in her hands at once or not. If I do I will put that on here too!! It was that warm that day!!

It is a beautiful Saturday morning! Karen and Kelly are the leaders in a Walk/Run group each Saturday morning and Kelly left very early.

I had such good news from my visit to the Dr. this week. I am in Stage IV of Kidney disease, that isn't the good news!! But I was very close to having to go on dialysis. My lab report came back and my creatine had gone back to base range and my GFR was better, too! My potassium level was down to normal!!

Well, I am Praising God for Sure!!!

I do not want to go on dialysis.That is such a life changing deal.

Nancy health is about the same on oxygen 24/7.She is excited about Halloween and sending out cards. She has made Pumpkins and puts stickers on them to pass out at church.

My daughter Carrie, who is a missionary was able to take her grand kids to the Circus last night! I hope she took some pictures of them. She said they had a wonderful time!! I am 73 and I have never been to a real Circus!! My kids went when they were young with the school on fields trips!

Hoping everyone is doing good and enjoying the fall weather!

I broke down and turned on our heat this week when it got down to 28 degree's!! Just to cool around the edges for me!!

Hello to everyone!! Here it is the first day of fall!!! Love it!! What a hot summer we had here in Western Missouri! But not has bad as what all of you went through down in OK. and TX! I sure hope the rains come soon for all of you.

I had a wonderful visit from my daughter Carrie in August just in time for my Birthday!! We were able to take Nancy to the Zoo and she loved every minute of it!! Both of us had to be pushed in wheelchairs. The Zoo had ran out of the carts you can ride so the girls had to push us! It was really hot that day, too!!

Nancy health has gone down hill, and she is hanging in there. On Oxygen 24/7. I would really appreciate prayer for her.

I hope you all had a great Easter Sunday!! Nancy and I were able to go to church! She is doing better and we have been able to go several Sundays! What a blessing this is for us!

We heard a good a good message,too! I so glad that Jesus Paid the price for me!

Several people at church brought Nancy Easter baskets and cards and she was so happy!

We came home and had a good dinner and enjoyed a nap in the afternoon!

It is dark and gloomy and raining this morning!! Today is my Great grand son Mathias tenth Birthday!! Happy Birthday dear Mathias!!

Here it is the first day of Spring!! I am so ready for it to be warmer! We had a very cold snowy winter!!
Nancy is feeling better! We all had the stuff, that went around in February but we are better except for today. I seem to have some sinus deal and all stuffed up!!

In fact Nancy and I have been able to go to church the last two weeks in a row! We have a wonderful pastor who really has a heart for God! Karen and Kelly said he had a wonderful sermon this morning.

I know some of you know that Sandy who had a blog called( Flipped Flop Floozie) fell this past week and broke her ankle and sprained her other one! We were so sorry to hear this, her husband Mike had just had a few weeks ago a double knee replacement!!! Sandy's Dad was diagnosed with fourth stage cancer, too.
I know she would really appreciate your prayers!!
I noticed Mary hasn't written a blog for a few weeks so I am wondering if she is OK?

I read Shortybears blog and I know she had been SO sick and prayers are going up for her.
Hope this finds my blogging friends doing great and in good health!
I haven't been able to blog for a while because some how my blogging site has gone over into Karen stuff and she went out and fixed it today and here I am typing away!!

Merry Christmas to all my blogging friends!!
I haven't been on forever I know! Nancy got very ill in Sept and was in the hospital for 15 days! She was in ICU for 7 of those days. She had 3 stents put in her heart. She had 90% blockage. She also had pneumonia and her lungs filled up and she had a very hard time breathing.
Carrie came home and helped us take care of her and I don't know what we would have done without her!!
Then on November 30th we had to take her back to the hospital with pneumonia. She was very ill again. But Praise God she is doing so much better!
I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!!

Since I was on here last Sarah and Kyle have had their baby boy! I am a great- grandma again for the 6th time. He was born on June 10th and weighed 6lbs and 11oz! They named him Wyatt Lee! He is a cutie!

I am having some very serious health issues with my kidneys. I would really appreciate your prayers about this! Thanks!

When I read Sandy's comment today I realized I am so behind on my blogging!! Did you know she has a new blog and with a new name!!Here you go Ramblings of a middle-age goddess.

On Saturday it will be my daughter Carrie who is a missionary in Mexico birthday. It will also be my great-great son Marcelo 2nd birthday! Born on his grandma Carrie's Birthday! Happy Birthday! This month was also Sarah, John and Sofia, Birthday too!!

Marcelo is doing so much better after being so sick. He had a high fever and it went into convulsions and he ended up in the ER. But he is getting along fine now.
It is Summer at last, but I did enjoy the cool spring and didn't complain about the weather to much, just all the rain!!
Karen will be going to Hatti soon for a missions trip with some of her friends from church. She knows it will be really hot down there!!
Since I wrote a post the last time Bill has improved and is feeling so much better and back to work part time.Thanks for your prayers!

Happy Mother's Day to all my bloggy friends! I hope each one of you enjoy your day on Sunday.

One week ago tonight my son Bill was Life Flighted to a hospital in Kansas City from the hospital down in Clinton,MO. Bill was having a heart attack. Good news! He is now home and improving each day! We are so thankful he is with us!! He has to watch his diet and exercise, etc.

On Sunday while he was in the hospital we were all down at his church in the afternoon for his daughter, my grand daughter 's baby shower. What a joy this was to be able to celebrate her event not having a funeral for Bill that afternoon!!! Glory to God!

Sarah received so many lovely baby gifts! Sarah and Kyle are having a baby boy! This will make me a Great Grandma for the 6th time!!

Nancy is feeling better,so pleased for that! I am working on getting my kidneys disease under control. The report on them was not good. Please add me to your prayer list! Thanks so much!

As you can see Karen has lost a lot of weight! She has now lost 150 pounds! So proud of her.Kelly has lost 75. It helps me too with my no salt diet! I miss salt more then sugar!!!

We were able to go to Church today! Nancy saw this tee shirt, and spent her money on it and just put it on over her top she had on!! What a joy to be able to get to go to church today!! We were so welcomed by all of Karen and Kelly friends.
Loved the music and the sermon! We went out to eat after church. Came home and took a nap!! The weather here in western Missouri has finally turned to Spring!!!

I have good news!! I went to the oncologist yesterday and she said that the protein in my blood was NOT bone cancer!! What a relief this was. The protein they are seeing, is my normal protein. You should not have any protein in your blood or urine. But what I have it normal for me.

So I am praising God!

Here it is a few days before Valentine's Day! I haven't posted for a long time! If I had posted, it would have been about snow and cold or cold and snow!! I am so ready for spring!! I bet Melli and Daisy are snowed in for sure!! What a mess out there. I heard on the news it was snowing in Dallas, the weather man said they had 5 inches of snow!

Nancy and I finally got to get out and about and that was really great!

Our Ladies Bible Study teaches jokes that maybe we will finish up in June!! We are studying a wonderful book by Beth Moore with her video's! I have really enjoyed this study.

Both Nancy and me are doing, ok.

Here it the middle of January! We still have snow every where, although you can see the street. I have not been out of the house since the Saturday after New Years!! I think I am close to having cabin fever!! Our drive way is better so I think this week I will be able to get out and about!!!

We have had freezing fog every morning and the weather man said again tomorrow.

I think we are going to get to have Ladies Bible Study this Monday. It has been called off the last two weeks because of the snow and frigid temperatures. But it is much better with it in the 30's!

Well, this sounded like a weather report!!

Our Chiefs didn't do good at all this year but they are making changes so maybe it will get better next year!!

I know, don't faint I have the Christmas photo's posted already!! When I first started blogging I didn't know how to upload or any thing at all with getting photo's or linking and I have learned so much since I started in June of 2007! I didn't post a picture of Karen because I could not remember which one I could use!!
Bill,Becky,Jake, Sarah, and Kyle didn't get to come up here on Christmas Day so we are having our Christmas with them next weekend.

It has snowed every morning since Christmas.In fact it snowed most of the day yesterday!!We had a very quiet Christmas Day with just the four of us. We played games with Nancy. She got a board game, Trouble, Old Maid cards, and Don't break the Ice. She had a big time because Kelly was the old maid.

I was over at Shortybears Place and I read that her husband Eddie had a stroke. Please go over there and tell her you are praying. I am sure if you read her blog each day you have already heard. Our prayers are with you Denise and Eddie.

Our weather is to get bad by tomorrow afternoon! Calling for snow, ice, and everything in between!! I talked to my son Bill and if it is real bad they will come up the next day and we will have our Christmas then! I sure don't want them out on the roads with a snow storm going on!!

Here it is ten days until Christmas Eve! I still have some shopping to do. So does Nancy!She did get to go out to the Dollar General for a few minutes to get most of her gifts. She is almost done. We did get all her cards out and there was a lot to send! The tree is up and decorated and looks great. One of our kitty's does want to get into to it and the other one, our big brown cat just is to big and lazy to bother. Kelly is putting up the Christmas cards that have come in, up on your door. Where do you put yours? On the door or just in a pile or basket or maybe some special deal you have just for this.
I sure want to Thank everyone for your prayers for Nancy this past year and especially in Oct. when she was gravely ill. We are blessed to have her with us this year!!

Kelly hosted her work party at Karen house on Friday night and it went really well!! It looked so festive and Nancy and I got to have some of the goodies and they were yummy!!

I realize I haven't been a very good blogger lately but it is just to hard with Nancy and the way things are now..... I know everything will get better in time and like some of you have told me we will be here when things get better!!!

Here are some picture we took at my son Bill's on Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful day and we had a bountiful dinner! So much to be Thankful for not only that day but each and every day!!

Nancy went in for labs today and her blood pressure was good! I held my breath as the nurse pumped up the blood pressure machine. I was so happy when it was almost normal.

Karen bought me a nice 4ft Christmas tree which is not live!! We had a live 3ft one last year and it was lovely but it was dry sooner than I would have liked. Karen took my big tree for her house and it looks almost little in her large living room!! It was almost to much in here so I am very happy to have this new one!!

Nancy is buzzing around so glad it is the first of December!! She started talking about Christmas like a couple of day after last years Christmas. It wears on you trust me when you hear the same thing several times a day. But this is the way she is and we just love her and take care of her! She loves to send Christmas cards so I must get this going for her again. She sent out last year with my help 32 cards I did the addressing, and she can sign her name. It brings her so much joy I can't find the heart to say no.

Hi on Friday the 13th!!

I haven't been on for a week! On Tuesday we had to take Nancy back for her hospital check up and while we were there her blood pressure had fell again to 78/50 so we had go back up to the hospital. She was put on an IV for fluids and when they were better her blood pressure went back up. She came on the next day (Wednesday) She seems to be doing ok!

Yesterday was my son Bill's 50th birthday. He is having a problem. He has one eye that he is almost blind in and the other one is in trouble with to much pressure. He will be returning to see the eye specialist on Dec 3rd and I would love for you all the add him to your prayer list that is eyes will be healed!!Thanks!!

It is still pretty here! 61 degrees and windy but I think the weather man said there is going to be a change soon!!

I am sorry I haven't been out to visit! I will, when things calm down again.

How about this!! Karen had me drive her car today!! I had not driven for a very long time!! I did just fine. We went to the post office and then to the gas station!! I was really thrilled to be able to get behind the wheel again!!
It is so pretty here today!! 72 degrees!! Doesn't get much better then this!!

Music to our Ears!!!

Great news!! Nancy came home from the hospital yesterday!! She has to be on oxygen 24/7 now. She was on this just at night time. The reason for the Christmas decoration is our local station Star 102 is playing Christmas music from Nov 1 to December 25th. This is a little early I think!! BUT Nancy just loves it and she had on her headphones singing off key with great enthusiasm all afternoon yesterday!! AND that is Music to our ears!!! SO happy to have her home again. She was so close to not to be able to ever come home again that we are so grateful for God's blessing us with her to be with us!! Thanks for your prayers!!

Good Morning!! Nancy is so much better and out of ICU. She was moved up to a room. She is getting back to her old self!! She says, I need a diet soda, or wants something else but music to our ears!!

Hi, I wanted to give my blogging friends an update on what has been going on at our house. Nancy got sick on Tuesday night and I called the Doctor at mid-night. I had to take her into the office the next morning and she had a temp. of 103.6 she could not urinate and she thew up black bile while she was there. Also her blood pressure was 78/40.
The Doctor thought she was Septic and she was and he sent us to the hospital. At first she was in a room upstairs but real soon she needed to be in ICU but there where no beds available. The hospital is packed.
Nancy had to be in the post op. room the first night and then over to another place in that room and then into ICU. It could have gone either way but Praise God she began to make urine on Wednesday!!
Today, her blood pressure is normal she has no fever she is really making urine. She does have to have a blood transfusion this morning. Karen is with her this morning. I have been staying 12 to 14 hours a day and the girls said I had to rest this morning. I will go back up at noon.
This is from her tooth that they didn't want to take out because of the lupus. Please pray that the Doctors and us will have wisdom and know what to do about her teeth. Taking them out will cause major problems with her lupus, but this one tooth will have to come out.
One of her Dr's said it was amazing that she had recovered so quickly. She didn't call it a miracle but amazing.Thanks for your prayers.

Yesterday we took off and went over to the Blue and Gray park at Lone Jack. Not really in Lone Jack but out in the country somewhere!!! I could not find it in a million years. Nancy wanted to go there because in the winter we were over there, and there were so many different birds.

Of course that day was the coldest day of the year with snow on the ground and the birds flying here and there,that day they showed up really good!

Then we took off for Liberty Mo and the bakery "Just Desserts" He is the baker who made the beautiful cake for my 70th Birthday party a year ago. I have posted the pictures of our desserts . His shop was so quaint, it is a block off the square and the trees around there were beautiful.

We drove around the Campus of William Jewel a 4 year liberal arts college that is really old and the architecture is so beautiful.

Then Karen took us to a park she sometimes has her lunch at when she is over at her work. It is the Leawood City Park and what a neat park. We had a fun day and I haven't seen the trees this spectator for years!!!

Here it is Wednesday already!! I spent most of yesterday helping my special needs daughter,Nancy to get all of her Halloween card ready get in the mail over the weekend. She loves to send cards!! She signs her name and puts stickers on her cards and I address them. She has return address stickers from the American Heart Association. She is so proud of them!!

Lots of flu in our community. My friend called me on Monday to tell me that she had a lab appointment and the Doctors office called and said for her not to come that the office was full of people with the flu.
An 11 year old boy at our elementary school passed away over the weekend. They haven't said on the news if it was from the H1 N1 virus or not. It is so sad.When I get finished blogging I have to call the health dept in Jackson County. The lady I talked to last week said to call today and see if she knew where Nancy could get a shot. Nancy has had her regular flu shot but needs the H1 N1 shot. She told me what they are giving out now has a live virus and would be harmful to Nancy, that we should wait until the shot was available. Nancy has lupus and her immune system is weak. The Pulmonary Specialist said we should get her the shot.
We have enjoyed beautiful weather for a few days but I think they said this is all to change this evening with a cold front and storms moving our way.

Here is a picture of my daughter Carrie and her grandson Marcello. This was taken the first of the week when Carrie was babysitting just Marcello. He is almost 17 months old. He has a big brother,Kevin who is 2 and a sister Valerie who was 4 in August.

I am hoping to get some pictures of other kids soon. Marcello is really laid back and a good baby!!

Marcello has a cousin Mathias who is 8 years old. Mathias lives down there too. I am missing these Greatgrand Kids like crazy!!

It is warm and beautiful in Guadalajara!!It was another dark and gray day here!! They think we may have some sunshine by the first of the week!!

I got such a kick out of my Faerie picture that Pea had posted for her Birthday Party that I had to share it with you all!! I laughed out loud and Kelly laughed harder then me!! Thanks, Pea for going to so much work to make us all smile!!

It is still chilly here 45 degrees this afternoon! It is suppose to be for this time of the year in the high 60's.

My granddaughter Sarah gave us the wedding pictures in frames for us! Beautiful frames and pictures!! She has a beautiful new home, her groom built just for her! Kelly was down there over the weekend and said it is really nice. I am wanting to go down there and see it too!!

Pea's Birthday is on the 13th so a Happy Birthday to her, too!!!
It was down to 28 degrees this morning! Brr!I haven't turned on the furnace this fall. But more mornings like this and it is coming on!!
Kelly drove down to Sarah's yesterday afternoon and spent the night with them. Kelly's cats are used to sleeping in bed with her and in the night one of them pounced on my leg and thought it was a tree!! I had to get up and put her in the other room and I shut the door!!! Poor Kitty had to find another place to sleep!!

Karen has gone to CSMU to watch Jake run up and down the side lines at their football game! He is studying to be a coach!

It is a beautiful fall day! 63 degrees! Nancy went to her pulmonary specialist yesterday and she is doing good. She had her flu shot,too. We have 5 specialist so we have appointments next month but with different Doctors. She also has lab work.

I am feeling better,I had that junk Karen and Kelly had last week.

Carrie and Aaron, John and Ale and Jey all left on Monday morning after the paper work they needed came in the mail. I heard from Carrie yesterday late afternoon and it was 102 degrees!! The AC had gone out of Aaron's car and they stopped at Wal-Mart and got some kind of something to help the AC. It started working again!

I am missing them. Carrie tried to get fall cleaning done for Kelly before she left! Kelly told her she was going to keep her here!!

Our leaves are changing and it looks pretty, I know by next week they will be in there full glory! Love it!!

It has been so cool here and it has felt like fall!! I am loving this!!

But seems like in the fall sickness comes around and Kelly has a viral infection. Karen is much better so I am sure Thankful for this.

Carrie and Aaron are here for another day, I always hate to see them leave!

She has painted my bathroom, painted the railing on my front porch, painted the trim around the front door, and the deal that the steps are on.

She also cleaned Nancy's room! All of her dresser drawers the closet everything in her room!! We had 3 bags full for the Goodwill!! Nancy woke up the next morning and said " I love my room"! You never know how she will take something like this, so I was happy she took getting rid of a bunch of stuff so well!!

When our company has gone I will try to get out and visit! I have found that Facebook is easier for me with Nancy. But I love blogging, too!!

Carrie and Aaron had the reception for Ale and John last night. I thought it was really nice considering their wasn't any time to plan for this!! Nancy has an infection in her tooth. Kelly and I took her to the Dr. yesterday afternoon and she got an antibiotic for it and already she is better.

My son Bill is blind in one eye and it is so hard for him to see to drive after dark. Jake was going to bring him but he wasn't able to he had hurt his foot so bad. Bill sent a picture of his big toe were he hurt it.... I am not going in to details because it will make you kinda sick.... Bless his heart! He is studying to be a coach and he had to go to an out of town game today and stand on the side lines.

My other news is that yesterday Kelly made me a Facebook account!! I have found so many bloggy friends already on there or they have found me!! I am going to love Facebook too!

My Son-in law said he was coming up to the states to attend a conference in Wisconsin this weekend. My daughter Carrie said, I 'm going along and visit my Mom!! Jey hopped in the car too! Sofia and the kids stayed down there!

My other grandson John said, Ale and I are coming, too and then we can get married in the states! And they did, on the 23rd!! Our family will have a reception for them while they are up here. The big church wedding will be held in Mexico next month.

Karen has walking pneumonia and has been off work for several days. She went to work today. Nancy has not been feeling very good so please pray for her, too.

Homecoming!

Tonight is Homecoming between Oak Grove and Odessa! It has been a rivalry for years! Oak Grove Panthers meet the Odessa Bulldogs tonight at Homecoming!!
On our local channel 9 each week has the Game Of the Week!! The station received 36,000 votes this week and 19,000 were for the Oak Grove - Odessa game!! This means that our local hero Lenny Dawson from the Glory Years of the Chiefs will be at the game tonight reporting live on the 10:00 news. I always went to all the games when my son Bill played football .#30

Kelly was in the band we went again to the games. She was a trumpet player.

This afternoon was the big Homecoming parade! Nancy just loves getting the candy and she had so much that all the kids threw to her from the floats. We took little sandwich bags and filled them with candy and took the extra out to the folks at the library. Karen snapped these pictures with her cell phone and I am not a computer whiz so I don't know how to make them larger!

I haven't done a Thankful Thursday for a Long Long time so maybe today I should!!I see the subject is on Masterpiece. I heard this story years ago and I don't know if I remember it correctly or not. But here goes. When a potter makes a beautiful pot he throw away the broken ones and the ugly ones, etc you get the idea..... until the piece is perfect then put his name on his piece.

God takes us when we are sinners and gives us His Name and calls us His Master piece before He even get started on us!!! I love that story. I am so happy that God never gave up on me!! He keeps changing me from what I was to what HE wants day by day! Praise His Name!!

I am so thankful for His love, grace, mercy goodness,life,light,kindness the list is endless like His Love!

This fall at the Ladies Bible Study we are going to start a 6 week study on a new book. Our leader Joan has chosen the book "When Wallflowers Dance" by Angela Thomas. Last spring we did a study by Beth Moore, Esther, "It tough being a Woman." I really did enjoy the weeks we were going through this book.

Joan is a wonderful teacher and taught school for 30 years or so and know how to bring out the best in everyone.I love going to this Bible study. I don't get to go to church as much as I would like to and this is just great that I can go to this. Karen comes over and is with Nancy so that I am able to attend! That is some thing I am so thankful about.

This summer at Sarah wedding I met a very nice lady and she told me she also goes to Joan's Bible study. It is such a small world.

This book is about becoming a woman of Righteous Confidence. Here is a little blurb about the book.

We did have a great time this weekend at Santa Cali Gon Days! One of my comments on my last post by our friend Linda said, "I can NOT believe the "Kelly getting LOST" story didn't make the Santa Cali Gon history!!! That was another "special memory" from that festival! Whew - we're sure glad she got found!!! I also hope you "dedicated" some of that kettle corn y'all ate to me! I haven't had kettle corn in about two years. I LOVE it - so luscious!

Yes, it is true we lost Kelly, for a few minutes when she was around 3 years old! I had her hand in mine and let go for one minute and she was gone and all around us were hundreds of strangers!!Talk about panic!! We started yelling "Kelly " "Kelly" at the top of our lungs!! I think it was Karen who found her not to far from us and relief swept over us and we were so Thankful!! I think I got a stroller for her and we use that for the next few years!

But when Kelly was 16, Karen had got a bunch of stuff and asked her to take it to the car and she couldn't find it! Well!!! For a while we didn't think to much of it but has the minutes turned in to like 30 minutes and then longer, we started to think OH MY GOODNESS! Is Kelly lost again!! or worse! She didn't come and Karen said," I am going looking for her Mom" and then we saw her coming down the street! So we always say, Now Kelly don't get lost! She just gives us a dirty look, nowadays!! Oh yes, we did have kettle corn!! We did say I bet Linda would love some of this!!!

I was out messing with my blog!! Oops!! I hit the wrong key I think ! Or I didn't read it very close where it said colors will disappear if you click this button!! So instead of a nice blue blog I have white one and I am to afraid to click any more buttons until Karen can take a look, and do some damage control!!!

Happy Labor Day!

This is Labor Day Weekend and it is time again for Santa Cali Gon Days in Independence Mo.

The first Santa-Cali-Gon Days Festival was held in 1940 to celebrate the unique heritage of the City of Independence as the starting point of the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon Trails. A second celebration was held after World War II in 1947. The event would not be held again until 1973. The festival, then called Three Trails Days, featured a beard and mustache contest, the Miss Independence pageant and a pioneer costume contest. In 1974 the festival was renamed Santa-Cali-Gon Days, a name originally penned by Velma Katschkowsky in a 1940 contest to name the festival. In 36 years the Festival has evolved into one of the nations premier festivals, drawing more than 225,000 people.

Some years we go and then we miss a few and then we go back up and enjoy all the festival has to offer! Now that Nancy and I can't walk long distances Karen and Kelly push us though the crowds in wheel chairs!! They are sweet, brave girls! There are huge tents full of all sorts of crafts that we love to look at but can't see it all!
It is raining here this morning and it is 63 degrees. I have been up there when it was so hot you could not enjoy it very much!! But we went any way! I have taken my grand kids different times through the years.
When Kelly and Brandon were teenager we parked our car at the RLDS headquarters and took the shuttle bus. Then the two of them decided to get me a shelf and a deal to hang quilts on! Wow, that was fun on the bus! But we did have fun! Nancy loves to go and eat everything she can!!

This past week Kelly came home with a stack of books for me and included in it was a wonderful book by Pamela Roswell Moore "Life Lessons from the Hiding Place". I finished reading it last night. I found it so inspiring.

Hi on Friday Afternoon!

I know it isn't fall yet!! But our weather has been so nice and cool you would think it is September not August!! I think fall is my favorite time of the year.

I haven't been out visiting very much this week. I had a phone call from one of Nancy's Doctors office and they needed me to call Medicare. Yikes!! Who knew this was going to consume days!! Well, two of them!! I was on the phone from 9:30 until 1:00!! The day before, for a long time too!! All I can say is ....... The government wants to take over Health Care!! Well, YIKES again! I had to call her secondary insurance also.
Not much news with my ear next to the phone!! OK, I will stop ranting on and on!!
Yesterday was the last day for my visiting nurse. I am doing better and I don't need her to come by anymore!
I hope everyone is feeling good out there! Hope to get out and do some visiting today and tomorrow!

It was so hot that day that I stayed in the church!
They drove around the block and came back for
photos. I know there isn't any of me! I had burned
my lip the week before and had a horrible looking
sore on my lip! It was bad enough I had to go to
the wedding looking like that I am not sharing

They had a great reception with all kinds of delicious food and a chocolate

Yesterday we went to Nancy's rheumatologist. She is doing better. She has to have labs every 6 weeks but the good news is we can have them done at our local Doctors office. If this is your first visit here, Nancy is my 47 years old special needs daughter who has Lupus.

I see that my last part of the Women of Strength has underlines on it and I don't know how to make that go away!!

It is raining here again today and it is 73 degrees in August!! We sure have had a cooler summer then what usually happens here in Missouri in August!!

I want to build you up to be mighty warriors, but you cannot do it on your own. You need My presence, My grace and anointing upon you constantly. And the only way to obtain all that you need is by staying by My side and resting, waiting upon Me whenever you can. Make use of every moment that you can to rest before Me for mighty is the battle ahead, and you must be ready for it. So come before Me so that I can heal your heart from those things that have wounded you. Let Me bring to your memory anything you have suppressed of deep hurts, resentments, or unforgiveness that might hold you back. For you need to be clean vessels so that My power and glory can flow freely through you. Let Me set you free from any doubts or fears with My perfect love.
Once you reach that point you must be in Me as clean vessels, keep your guard up for the enemy will want you back in his clutch. But don't let him back in your thoughts, for the battle is won or lost in your mind. Keep covered with My armor of light and love. Be filled this day with My grace and truth. Reach out to Me so I can fill you to overflowing with My Spirit, which is a mighty force field that the enemy can't cross. The same Spirit that raised My Son from the dead dwells in you. You dwell with Me high above all power and principality. Use the Word against him like I did when I lived here on the earth.

Believe and receive My every promise made to you in My word for it is your sword. Stand behind My faith which protects your heart from the arrows sent from the evil one. Pray unceasingly in the Spirit to stay built up. And rejoice for we have won the battle. You fight from the place of victory. No matter what happens to your flesh, your spirit will soar in Me like the eagle.
And, having done all, stand in Me..for I am your Shield and Fortress

This morning I got this E-mail from my son- in- law's Mother, Lorita. I have known Elise and Shawn for years, and feel so bad he is suffering from this illness. Please pray for him. Thanks

Dear Friends,

I received this e-mail from my dear friend, Elise in Missouri, who's son, Shawn, who (I think) is about 35 yrs. of age now, he is suffering from AIDS and Hepatitis C thru bad blood. Only God has brought him through these many years. He was infected around 15 or 16, and God has spared him from death many times. Will you join with us in prayer that God will touch him and give him a word of wisdom as to what to do. It has been getting worse for him these last months.

"Dear Father, you created us in your image, and you know every part of our body and there is nothing you cannot do, we call upon you to send your Holy Spirit into Shawn's spirit and soul and body and touch him with your mighty power, he loves you so much. Lord, you have been so good to us to give us your Son, Jesus Christ, he willingly laid down his life for our salvation, and also for our healing. May your power raise him up and restore him to live as you planned from the beginning, that he might serve you and be used to see lives changed. We ask you for this healing in your Son, Jesus Christ name. Amen and Amen!" Below is the email from Elise.

Shawn is hurting so bad he can't get any sleep. His leg cramps get worse and worse. I don't know what he's going to do as the tonic water with quinine doesn't help anymore. After you go awhile with no sleep you feel like you can't survive.

Please tell all your friends to pray for Shawn with AIDS and Hept. C that he got thru bad blood transfusions....because of the Hemophilia.

I remember how devastated Shawn and his family were when they found out what happened after he received the bad blood transfusion.

I have posted some of the picture of my granddaughter Sarah's shower two weeks ago. I have had a time trying to post these pictures!! Blogger has not wanted to post any pictures. I have read on other peoples blogs how blogger wouldn't work but I had never had it happen to me. But today it did!! So these pictures are not in the order I would have liked them to be. I have pictures of the rehearsal and of the wedding. The wedding was last Saturday afternoon and when I can I will post pictures of the wedding!! It was so beautiful.
After the shower Sarah put on the hat and glasses Kelly gave her to have at the bachelorette party. Since we live 60 miles away Kelly stayed and they had it after the shower.
Kelly was writing down the list of gifts and who gave them to the bride to be!!
This gift was from her Aunt Carrie to put wedding pictures into and enjoy for a long time

Sarah is short and tiny so someone gave her a step stool so she can get into her cupboards in her new kitchen in her new house that Kyle built for her!!!

She got a lot of lovely gifts!
This is when we were playing games!! Sarah had to answer questions about the groom and if she didn't know the answer she had to add another piece of bubble gum! She missed a few and you can see by the next picture she had a mouthful!!

This is Karen's BBQ apron she sewed little items on and we had to remember what she had sewed on there. She wore this for a long time but I still couldn't remember everything!!
The cake!! It was pretty but not what Karen and Kelly ordered! It was suppose to have daisy's for the flowers. When they picked up the cake it was to late to change it!! Someone picked up a cake with daisys I am sure!!

Zeke is in Kelly's dresser drawer while trying to take a nap. Kelly thought he was so cute she started taking pictures and he woke up!

What a nice surprise when I got on the computer and came over to my blog!!! Karen has been on and made me a new header and fixed my Alphabet poem! Thank you so much!!
This week is the shower for my granddaughter Sarah so we are busy with getting ready to go to this and take down all the shower goodies to Bill's church. Kelly has ordered a neat cake for it and I will have her take the camera so for sure we can post some pictures of this!!
I have to stop and call and thank Karen for fixing my blog!!!!

I was over at Barbara H. blog last night and she is having a giveaway for her third Blogiversary! Go on over and say Hello and congrats: and enter for the neatest gifts! One is a copy of By Searching by Isobel Kuhn. I read this when I was in my 20's and just loved it. My daughter Carrie read it too and she said it was one of the reasons she is a missionary. So when I saw this I was so excited. I never hear anyone talking about her books nowadays so this is great! The other gift is a CD.

Saturday Afternoon

It is Saturday afternoon. My daughter's visit is over and she has gone back to Mexico. We had such a good time and a good visit. I was blue all day Wednesday but I am fine now.
Karen and Kelly are camping with their church group this weekend. No one wanted to drive a long distance to get to the lake so they are close to home at a lake! With a tent and the whole outdoorsy stuff!! Kelly got wet when it rained last night! She said everything has dried out and no big deal. I think part of the group are out on a pontoon boat this afternoon.
I have been camping when I was younger, but I like to camp at the Best Western rather then out doors!! I like having a picnic and being out side but not sleeping out there!

Posting Before Friday!!!

I know, don't faint! A new post before Friday! I had a lovely weekend and just had to share some of the highlights!!!
Starting out on Friday at noon my daughter Carrie came by with lunch from Sonic! Nancy was very very happy! But she drank way to much Route 44 peach tea and by evening was way hi- per!! With a captial H.

That evening the girls put the two wheelchairs in the two cars and away we went.
Karen wanted to see something at a store over at Zona Rosa shopping mall! It is a good ways from where I live. When we got there, this mall has a out of doors open courtyard for tons of people to hold concerts.
They were having one, that evening with the "Elders" a Irish group. They were so much fun! The girls parked me and took Nancy and off they went while I enjoyed the music.

On Sunday afternoon Carrie and I went to a reception for our former pharmacist Maurice Branum. He celebrated his 80Th birthday in March. Mr.Branum opened the drug store in 1954 the same year my folks moved over here.
He owned the store until 1992.
I think the whole town turned out to say "Hello" to him.

His wife was killed in a car accident in 1964. My Mother stayed with their girls for a couple of years and helped take care of them. Carrie and I sure enjoyed saying "Hi" to so many people we know. There was so much food you just would not believe it! It was like a big Fourth of July town picnic. I told Carrie I didn't get any cake which I am not suppose to have any way and she said,"That's the only thing you didn't have!!!

Mr. Branum is one of the most kind, helpful,and gentle person you would ever want to know.

When I was a teenager I would go there after school for a coke or ice cream. It was the local hangout for the school kids.

Here it is Friday again and I haven't posted for a week!! I sure am enjoying my daughter Carrie's visit.

One night this week we went to "On the Border" Nancy was given a gift certificate on her Birthday. Thank you, Linda!! Nancy and I had a taco salad in the bowl you can eat! Yummy! Hello on a Friday Afternoon! Last Friday I clonked my hand against something and I thought at the time " Oh, I hope I didn't hurt it again!"By Saturday evening my hand was all swollen and hurting. I still enjoyed the Fourth and the fireworks!! By Monday my hand was still swollen so off to the Dr.'s office!

They did a ex-ray and it wasn't broken just full of arthritis which was stirred up when I hit it.

I am so excited we have two wonderful events coming up!! The first one, my missionary daughter who lives in Mexico is on her way up for a visit!! She hasn't been up here for a year! I can hardly wait to see her!! She stopped on her way up in San Antonio for a Joyce Myers conference. She has been looking forward to this for a long time. She said the first session was good!

The other event, is the event for this year!! My granddaughter Sarah will be getting married in August! Kelly is the Maid of Honor and she is hosting the shower at Sarah's Dad's church the last of July. She is hosting the Bachelorette Party, too! Kelly's friend Joan is making her beautiful mints for the shower! They are so pretty but wow, they taste good, too!!

I know I haven't been on for a while!! Wal-Mart pharmacy called me last week and said that the medicine that Nancy takes that really holds her lupus at bay,some thing had happened to the pricing. I called her insurance and her medicine had been reclassified and it now cost us $700.00 a month to pick it up at the store.!

Of course we can't afford this SO I have been working on getting this for her.

Medicare Part B doesn't pay for it either unless she has had a transplant. She hasn't.

But I called the Co that puts out this medicine and they took all my information and they called me yesterday and we found out she qualifies to apply!!

No, kidding we have to really jump through the hoops to get this but we are willing. So I am so happy to know we can apply and then we will pray she can gets this medicine she needs so much for free. I would love for you all to pray that Nancy will qualify for her medicine.

The Doctor called me late Sunday evening and called in another medicine for her but it isn't as effective as the one we need!! So, I have been on the phone to SS, Drug Co's. etc. this week!!

Almost The Fourth!!

Here it is two days before the Fourth of July! Tell me what you plan for your day. Do you go out of town or stay home and celebrate? We stay home.

When my Mother was alive we would go over and get her and bring her to our home for the Fourth. She just made the fourth so much fun because she would light a fire cracker and then not throw it for a couple of seconds yelling OH OH OH!!! Of course we were all screaming Mom/Grandma throw the firecracker!!!

She always made a Cherry pie and brought a batch of her oatmeal Chocolate chip cookies.

Nancy has always been scarred of the fireworks except of smoke bombs and sparklers! So from the time she was little she sat on my lap and many times I watched them from the window because she hated the noise so much. Now days she sits in the car at the park and watches them.

The Assembly of God church is sponsoring a city wide deal with a moon walk and booths and a big patriotic concert before the town shoots off the big fire works display!

As you can see I have been having a really good time going out and getting icon/buttons for my side bar. I love the Fourth of July and since it is next Saturday I thought it was time to get my side bar ready for the big Day!!
We don't go far away on the fourth, we don't even leave town ! Just enjoy what they have going on....Picnics, visiting with family and friends and watching the fire works displays!
Not a lot going on here today and that is good! Nancy and I are feeling good and this is a good deal!! It is very Hot here but we are blessed with the AC.

Karen, Kelly, my grand-daughter Sarah and her friend Chantel all went to Southern Missouri this past weekend on a hiking - kayaking fun trip!!! I have shared some of the pictures of them having a good time! The kayaking trip was on the little Niangua River. Last year we went down to Ha Ha Tonka State Park and the girls liked it so much they went back! They hiked through some of it and it wasn't so hot the two days they were there. Last year, when Nancy and I went, it turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year!!

While we were out looking at the fountains on Saturday we stopped by Union Station. It has been remodeled for millions of dollars not to long ago. It now has Science City in the basement part that draws school kids and adults alike. There were at least three weddings going on while we were there.

Yesterday we took off to down town Kansas City to see the many fountains in and around the City! At Union Station Karen picked up a brochure that had 28 fountains listed! We didn't make it all of them!! That is for another Day!!! I have wonderful pictures of Union Station I want to share with you later. We had a fun day!! Kansas City has more or as many fountains as Rome!!

Good Morning

Here it is Thursday morning! We have had stormy weather for several days! It is sultry and warm today.

My nurse was suppose to come this morning but so far she hasn't made it. She is watching my blood pressure and blood sugars very closely! This is a good!

Nancy had a Pulmonary Function Test on Monday. She hates these so I didn't tell her until almost time to go so she would not worry about it over the weekend! She said, " I hate this!!" She was able to do all of them but one.

She saw her phyciatrist on Tuesday and he prescribed a new medicine for her. It will help her not to get stuck on one thing and unable to move on.

This would be great if it works.

We stopped at Culver's on Tuesday! No butter burgers this time but we did have ice cream! Oh my goodness they know how to make the best ice cream treats!!

Hello

Hello on Friday afternoon! Kelly worked this morning but she drove the riding mower over to Karen's house to get her lawn mowed. We priced little trailers that you can drive your riding lawn mower up on to and hook up to your car or truck. Who would know how expensive these small ones cost!!! Eye opener for this Grandma!!!! So Kelly drives the mower over to Karen's!!

I think Kelly said we will grill out at Karen's this evening. Sounds good to me!! and the best thing is I HAVE my own computer and I don't have to post from Karen's house!! She doesn't mind at all, but is is easier from your own computer and home!!

The nurse was here on Wednesday but she wanted to check my blood pressure this morning so she stopped by for a few minutes. It was a little high 180/80. But after she left and I put my medicine away I discovered I had forgotten to take my meds last night at bedtime! oops!!

I better watch this closer! I am so careful with Nancy's meds!

Well, I hear a lawn mower driving in the drive way so Kelly is home and will be thirsty hot and tired!

I haven't updated about the weight lost for a long time. Karen has now lost 132 pounds!! Kelly

has lost 72 pounds and when my missionary daughter saw Karen's picture she was blown away with her success and gave up gluten and sugar and in two months has lost 32 pounds!

I lost between 15 or 17 pounds depending on who's scales I am on..... I like Kelly's the best! LOL! Hers are right and agree with our Dr's!

While I was at the Doctor's on Monday I had some good news!! The biopsy report was back and I didn't have any cancer! Praise God!! This was a relief for all my family!!

I was sick on Monday,I felt like I would be sick to my stomach all day. The Doctor gave me a shot for this and I began to feel better by evening.

Yesterday I was able to get a new perm! That will make you feel better right away!! It is really short but it will grow fast!!

Today I had a nice surprise!! Mary over at Mary's Writing Nook called me and visited for a while and she always lifts up my spirits with her good humor. She has two grandsons with autism and I have a special needs daughter who will be 47 this month. She really does understand what it like to take care of some one with special needs.Mary has been under the weather yesterday and today also.

It is a beautiful day today the trees leaves are a beautiful dark green and look so lush and full!! The sky is a pretty blue! I don't have on the AC today it is so nice!!

Happy Birthday!!

Here it is Saturday Night and I should do a post. I was able to get out and visit a few post today. I am feeling better. I go see the Dr next week for a follow up from the hospital. My blood pressure has been pretty good......some days almost normal and once in while high. My Doctor has a nurse coming to the house once a week to check my vitals and etc! I will be fine!!

Yesterday was my oldest daughter Carrie's Birthday! I didn't get an icon up on here but I did talk to her twice!!

It is also my great grandson Marcello's very first Birthday yesterday too!! They had a party at Carrie's house for them both!! When I called they were singing Happy Birthday to little Marcello and he was grabbing cake and icing! Little Kevin who will be 2 in June was trying to get the cake! and my daring little great grand daughter Valerie was saying when is it my Birthday!!!! She will be 4 in August.

I am back home from the hospital! I came home on Friday, after being there for a almost a week!! I am so happy to be home!!

My blood pressure went nuts, and went so high. The Dr's got it under control with two new medicines. While I was in the hospital my Dr scheduled me for a colonoscopy and a upper GI. Wow! Getting ready for for of these is something else!!

I had 5 little polyps and one has been sent off for a biopsy. I had my ulcers fixed too! Which I didn't even know I had!!I knew my stomach had some pain but didn't even think of it being that.

While I was getting ready for the upper and lower GI my blood sugar fell to the 40's twice and that was a mess. I really don't remember a lot about that day I was so sick. One of my dear friends was visiting,and she said I was so out of it I went to sleep while she was talking to me! That was a first! I usually talk her leg off!! She knew I was sick, when I wasn't talking!!

I want to Thank you all for your many prayers for me. This was a real blessing. Thanks to my Bible study group too!! Joan, the teacher reads my blog I sure want her to know how much I appreciate all the prayers. My son's church prayed and my daughter in Mexico had all her ladies groups and church praying too!! Kelly put it on her facebook and tons of people at church came up to the girls yesterday and wanted to know how things were going! I stayed home and slept!!

It is a blessing to have friends who care and pray! Thanks for all the kind comments you all left for me,too!! I read them and had tears in my eyes reading them!

Hi all,
Grams is still in the hospital, but in stable condition. Her blood pressure is down. She is still tired, but that may be from just being in the hospital. She says, "once you get to sleep they come in and wake you up for this or that." She has been seen by a few different "ologists" and everything has come back negative. That's a blessing. She has a couple more tests tomorow. We still don't know what has been causing the high blood pressure. Looks like she should be out of the hospital by the end of the week. Thank you all so much for your prayers.

Hi on Friday and I am not over at Karen's house using her computer!! What a blessing to be able to post from your own computer in your own home!! I am so Thankful to have my own computer!! So thanks to Karen for letting use her computer while our was out, when ever I needed it!

It was a perfect day yesterday weather wise. So beautiful! The day before yesterday was so stormy with tornado's up in in North East Missouri. Today we are to have stormy weather again for this afternoon.

Since I began this post we are now under a tornado watch. This is just plain old spring weather for Missouri!! I am able to go down stairs with Nancy's help to be in the basement!

I better go study my lesson and do my homework for Monday Bible study!

It has been a busy Day!! We took Nancy to see her rheumatologist today. She is doing so much better! Praise God! We stopped at Culver's for lunch, no ice cream today! Then stopped and made an appointment for her to have a breathing test,to the bank,Kelly had an appointment for a hair cut so we stopped with her. Then on down to Blue Springs to Pay Less for Nancy's new shoes!We stopped at the gas station and got some gasoline which has gone up to 2.05 a gallon! On to home and Kelly stopped at the grocery store, another stop, then to the post office to pick up the mail!! It was almost 3:00 before we drove in to our drive way!!
I am really tired tonight.
Kelly is working all day tomorrow so no leaving home tomorrow. I can do some visiting!! Thanks for all your visits!!!!
It is so nice to have a computer again!!!

I have a brand new computer! I am so thrilled!!! Now I can go out and visit with you all again!!!

Here it is Friday evening and we are grilling out over at Karen's house! It is chicken tonight.

I haven't told you all that Kelly was in a 4 mile run a couple of weeks ago.It is called the Trolley run. She did pretty good. It is at the Country Club Plaza with 7000 runners!! It was early morning and she was able to get the run in and get over to church for second service.She practiced Volley Ball in the afternoon! She was really tired by night time!!

I am sure enjoying the Bible study in Esther! What a blessing this turned out to be for all of us!!

Garage Sales

Here I am again over at Karen's house on a Friday evening!
I told you all that I wasn't going to the garage sales last Saturday. Karen came by for Nancy and me on Saturday morning. We went to a few sales and she stopped and got us some food and away we went again. My friend Cinda, was having a sale at her folks home. Her parents passed a aways a few years ago. Cinda gave Nancy some nice Christmas decorations and some Precious Moments figurines. She gave me some too that belong to her Mother. I treasure these
Cinda's Mom was one of my dear friend.
We stopped again at a church bake sale and Nancy was just buzzing! She had a hamburger and I had a hot dog! I don't think I am suppose to have them. I have lost 18 pounds!
On to some more sales and then stopped at a friends sale who I went to school with, back in the fifty's. They were having a bake sale with the VFW. Karen got us cookies there! When we got home, Kelly was home for lunch, she had to work Saturday! When she heard all the places we had stopped to get goodies at she just cracked up!!
You all didn't go to garage sales you went to all the bake sales!!! Well it just made Nancy so happy!!

I am sure praying Psalms 91 over my family in Mexico! My daughter, son-in law, 3 grandsons, two grand daughter in laws, and 4 great-grand children live down there. Karen had an E-mail from my grand-daughter and there is no hand sanitizer to be found any where.

I am sure hoping some time this month I get a computer!!!

Hi Again!! Here it is Friday evening and I am over at Karen's and we are going to grill out tonight! It is so much cooler at her house then at mine. I haven't turned on our AC yet....It is suppose to get cooler this coming week so I am trying to hold off.
I have some good news about baby Katie! She was moved from Intensive Care Unit to the regular nursery! Isn't that wonderful!! Please keep your prayers going for her. Thanks so much!!

Tomorrow is garage sale Saturday for the entire town. I don't need anything!! I can remember when I had to go out and find clothes for Kelly and all kinds of stuff to make it through but I am so blessed now not to have to do this!! It helped us a lot and I loved to go out and find bargains.

I am really enjoying our Monday night Bible study! I sure didn't know the book of Esther was so full of wonderful verses that Beth Moore brings to life for right now!! We have home work and I have fell down on keeping up! Kelly does better then I do at this! I have met so many nice ladies in the short time I have been going! We also have a great teacher, Joan!

Hello Hello!!!
I am over at Karen's house for the first time for a long time!! My computer geek daughter, Karen said that Kelly's computer is fried! It will be cheaper to buy a new one! Some time in May I hope to get a new one for me!!
I am missing everyone and our daily chats! They seems like real live chats!!

Since I have been gone I have started going to a Monday night Bible study with Kelly. The study in on Esther, It's tough being a woman. The study is taught by Beth Moore on DVD. Our leader is Joan and she is one of Kelly's co-workers at the library. There are around 45 to 50 women in the group! I have enjoyed every minute of this.

Baby Katie is still in the hospital,she is hanging in there but still needs your prayers.

Nancy and me were able to go to church on Easter Sunday!! This was so neat to get out and visit with every one!! We went out to dinner after church and it was so delicious!! We then went on a ride over at Lake Jacomo and looked at the Buffalo. Nancy loves to do this. Well I must stop this post and keep going. I sure hope to get back to a computer sooner then this last time!!!

Hi, It is Friday night and Kelly, Nancy, and me are over at Karen's house. Of course I came right in to her room with the computer the minute we got here!! Karen has a wii as you know but she got a new deal for it and it is a Wii fitness. Nancy did pretty good on it tonight! The girls have more fun on this new fitness deal!!

Here is a update on baby Katie P. She came through the surgery. The Doctors are now trying to wean her off of the oxygen. This is all we have heard so far but she did make it through the surgery. Praise God for this!! Karen will hear more on Monday when she is at work with Katie's Uncle. Thank you so much for praying for her.
I have no idea when we can get the computer fixed or a different one. I will either post every now and then from Karen's house or out at the library! Inside of me I am going Ugh!! I don't like this being without a computer!! But there are to many things that could be worse! Thanks for visiting me and leaving all the sweet comments for me and about baby Katie!!

This is Kelly writing to everyone out here is blogdom. The computer is down again and Karen is going to work on it this weekend. So, Grams sent me to find a computer and let all her blogging buddies know that she misses you and will hopefully be back online soon.

We have a prayer request. Our friend's niece is less than a week old and, right now, is undergoing major heart surgery. The ventricles (and other possible veins) to her heart are backwards. The doctors are going in to fix the problem. Please pray for this precious little girl and her family. Her name is Katie Payne. The surgery ends at one O'clock. Thank you so much.

The Truffle Shuffle

Karen and Kelly were up at the crack of dawn this morning to be in a 5K race which is 3.1 miles.

This is what Karen had to say about the race,
"Picture right after the race. It was a very hilly course...that I was not ready for. I still finished in 46:01 which was a minute more than I wanted to finish in, my goal was to finish in 45 by doing 15 min miles but did 15:20 sec miles, both of which is slow, but since I haven't done a 5K in 19 years, I am happy to have finished and to have not quit. I had to walk at the top of a couple of the hills. "

"The race was called the Truffle Shuffle and there was the promise of Andre's chocolate when you finish. Uhhhm I was highly disappointed when picking up my bib number to find out it was one nickle sized truffle... bummer. "

"Although as I was finishing, Kelly and a friend of hers came running back to me, they had stolen 2 more truffles and bribed me with chocolate to finish strong... go chocolate!!! "

Here's what Kelly had to say, "When Karen and I got our packets and our itsy-bitsy truffles, I said, 'wow, you get a tiny truffle and then shuffle out to go race!' This must be how they came up with the name. I hadn't been training like I should of, actually, I hadn't even run at all this week....I know....slacker.

"Well, during the last part of the race I was pretty much toast too, but my friend came up and ran along side me cheering and encouraging me to go faster. She had snatched some extra chocolate for me, also. She really helped me to finish strong!"

The girls have me all excited about this and I would like to go along some time. Kelly could push me in the wheelchair and Karen could push Nancy. I am not able to walk very far at all. Nancy can walk but she can't breathe good for very long. We could do the lupus race. Just a thought!

Praise God! Kelly's SUV has license plates!! She was able to get her plates yesterday. It ended up with a little red tape because who ever filled out the title before spelled the names wrong on the title and the people who owned it before were told they had to spell it just like the title said. BUT they wouldn't! SO some one had to get them to do it the right way and they did!! Every thing is fine now!! She is really enjoying her car!! In fact so am I!!

Yesterday was our pay day! Nancy had saved up her money and it was her Big outing to the Dollar General store. She has talked of nothing else for over a month. Things like, "I can hardly wait until the 3rd". This is what she said many times a day "It is almost here"!! You may wonder why we wait to take her.... well, she was making Easter Eggs deals with stickers the day after Christmas. Ready to give them out!!

She was getting toys for our neighbor boy's Birthday which isn't until the middle of March. When she gets them she is ready to give them away! So I have to hold her back a little. She had a blast buying the dog a bag of the chewy bones, Easter stuff(it is only 6 weeks away)! Birthday cards for Karen who's Birthday is the last March. She had three bags of all kind of things she was able to get at the Dollar store.

Today is Glo's Birthday!! Glo's blog is over at Young at Heart.She has had a bunch of health issues and trying so hard to get better!! I know she would love to hear from you all!! Happy Happy Birthday dear Glo!

We got 6 inches of snow in the night and this morning! This is the most snow we have had so far this year. Our next door neighbor and his brothers came over and shoveled our steps while my neighbor brought over his snow blower to use on the drive way. This was a blessing.

I have an update on Jay who I asked for prayer not to long ago. He had a massive stroke about two weeks ago. Even the first of this week he had some issue that were making everyone think things were not going well. I think on Wednesday or Thursday they moved him to the Physical Therapy hospital and he was able to walk around the room with a walker and do some other things that made the physical therapist pleased. When Jay's wife Brenda came to see him that night he said, "I am going home in two days!" All of his family caution him and said don't get ahead of your self. The Doctors have said you will probably be in this place for about 3 months and won't be able to work for a year. He said "No, I will be able to go home in a couple of days!! When the neurolist came in to see him later, He said, "Jay, if you can walk with out a cane, walker, or crutches and take a shower or bath all by your self you can go home tomorrow."

Well the next morning the family got a phone call from the hospital and they said " He DID it"!! The Doctor said he can go home! He can return several times a week for therapy!! WOW! Thanks for your prayers!! He says he won't be off work for a year either!!

This is Thankful Thursday and I haven't done one of these forever!! But I think it is time to write down all of the Blessing from God! Go here to join in with a Thankful heart.

I am so thankful that Nancy and I are feeling so much better!!

I am so Thankful for losing weight!! Yes! I have lost weight!!! I have lost 25 pounds since November when I had the stents put in my kidneys. Really it is 15 pounds since 10 of it was fluid.I lost 10 pounds in two or three days the first week.I have not counted calories but eating smaller portions and and watching my salt intake like a hawk!!

When snacking I eat fruits and veggies.

I am so thankful that Nancy's health issues are better. Since June we traveled 20 miles twice a month for her lab work at the KC CancerCenter for her lupus needs up until the last of January!! We still need prayer for her metal health issues.

We now only have to see this specialist every 6 months!!

I am so Thankful that Kelly was able to get herself a used SUV and it runs real good! It is so wonderful to be able to come and go when we want to!! It has room for canes, walkers, or wheel chairs!!

I am so Thankful for Jesus!!! As the old hymn says "With out HIM how lost I would be"

I had a nice phone call from Glo,who has a blog over at Young At Heart. Glo is feeling so much better that she was able to do a new post. I was so glad to hear from her and she sounds wonderful! She said she hasn't felt this good for a year!! Great news!!

We both are enjoying the beautiful weather in our part of Missouri! Glo lives about 30 miles from me.She is ready to go fishing!! No kidding!! It is 63 degree's!!

Not much going on here today but I wanted to let you know she has a new post so you can read about about her health.

I saw this and thought this one looks fun!! I love doing these !! It was over fifty degrees yesterday and now it is 27! Brr!!

I have a prayer request for one of my friends. Linda's brother Jay had a stroke last week. He is only 50. This is what his sister Linda wrote to me:

He is a miracle! He was only hours from dying with the amount of fluid that was pooling around his brain when they successfully got the shunt in his head to drain the fluid. He is able to speak, comprehend, moves both arms and legs! With our experience with our dad, this was such a huge relief to all of us.

His stroke is in the back portion of his brain and was very large. That part of his brain controls balance, equilibrium, and vision. Those are the areas he will need therapy to restore. His short term memory is also pretty fuzzy right now.

He did not have a good night last night. As his nurse was taking him down for a CT scan, they ran his bed into a wall and now his head hurts again. The CT scan showed a great improvement in fluid draining, but the doctor is leaving it in for 2-3 more days. They are also concerned that he doesn't have a lot of output from his kidneys.

The doctor took Brenda into the hall to speak to her. He told her Jay will be in ICU through the end of the week and in the hospital/rehab. facility for around 3 months and not back to work for probably a year. Jay and Brenda, like most people, survive on both of their salaries. Finances are a huge concern for them right now.

I know Linda's family would really appreciate your prayers for Jay. I had another update from Karen who talked to Linda and he did really well in Physical therapy today. In fact Karen left on Friday and went down to Texas to be with the family. She is home and very tired!! Their Dad had a stoke 10 years ago this month. Their Dad lived for several years after his stoke but his stroke effected his speech and his movement with is arms and legs. He is with Jesus now. Thanks for your prayers!!

Happy 30th Birthday to my dear Grandson Brandon!! We just got this new photo of his wife Ale' and their only child, my great- grand son Mathias. He is 7 years old.They live in Guadalajara, MEX.They are missionaries. I haven't seen Mathias or Ale' for a couple of years. I would dearly love to see all of them again soon.

I had a wonderful phone call on Friday from my friend Mary from Mary's Writing Nook I really do enjoy hearing from her. She is so easy to visit with you would think we have known each other for years!!

Kelly is enjoying her SUV! She wrote someone an e-mail today telling them this car is up to date!! She told them this vehicle had wind shield wipers, the passenger side, door opens from the inside, it has heat and an AC and it doesn't leak oil and other fluids!!! This is what the car we had was like!!! She was being funny!! But it was true about our old Car!!

Nancy received a lot of Valentines and she loved them all! Some of her Dr's took the time to send her a Valentine!! She sent out Valentine also!! If she has said Hello to you, she says what ever Holiday is next, I will send you a card. Of course I have to filter though this or we would go broke sending out cards!!! If you sent her a card, Thanks!!

Just in case I don't get to post on Saturday, Happy Valentine's Day to every one!!! Speaking of Valentine's Day when I was a little girl growing up on a farm in Iowa, my folks decided to sell the farm and go west for my Mother's and my health. We ended up in Hot Springs, New Mexico. The town changed it's name a few years later to Truth or Consequences for the radio program named that, with Ralph Edwards. But I digress! Which is not hard for me to do!!

When we moved there in February of 1946 I was in the second grade. On Valentine's Day I remember I got one Valentine from a little girl named Bonnie. We were so new that I wasn't on the list the teacher handed out for the parents. I remember that my Mother got me a huge Valentine with a fuzzy material all over it. I think I still have it somewhere in the house put away in a box.Many Valentines Days have come and gone since that one and I have received a ton of Valentines since then!!! It is the one that comes to mind!

On Sunday Kelly came home from church and said, "Mom" would you and Nancy like to go down and see Sarah. I said,"Yes"!!! Sarah is my son Bill's daughter who is teaching in her first school. She lives about 30 minutes from her parents! It was farther then I thought!!It is an hour and a half from our house to hers!! When we were almost there I looked up at the road sign and it said 85 miles to Springfield MO and I about flipped out!! But we turned off and drove 12 more miles West and we were at her home! She has an adorable apartment!! It is so nice and roomy and brand new almost!! It was so much fun to see her and how she has decorated her apt.

Nancy loved going along too, she likes to watch for deer, (bobcats! Yes, once Karen saw one!)turkeys,geese,groundhogs, raccoons, and hawks!! We saw geese flying, many hawks in the trees, even one flying down to get a field mouse. This was a nice outing for us!! It was a beautiful day on Sunday! Our weather is changing with wintry mix forecasted for Saturday.

The weather South of us was terrible yesterday with tornadoes in Oklahoma and TX. Several people lost there lives in this storm. My heart goes out to these folks who are left to pick up the pieces and who have lost loved ones.

This is how I'm feeling today!! Give me the chocolate and no one will get hurt!! I can't have sugar or salt so I am starting to crave both!!!

Our big news is Kelly has found the SUV that she was looking for these past few weeks. We have been with out a car for about 3 weeks!! It is not a brand new SUV just new to us!! Everybody has been so kind and given Kelly rides to and from work! My friends Jackie and Lilly have taken us to Doctors appointments!

Boy, do we appreciate their kindness!!!Wow!

Thanks so much!! She is getting a SUV because she can put wheel chairs and walkers into the back. She works in our home town, so she will have good gas mileage and her insurance won't be as expensive as if she worked in Kansas City. It is black and very pretty.

They brought it down today with the owner to see if I can get in and out of it with out a lot of trouble! I could get into it fine, but will need a small step stool to get out of it. I am used to getting out of Karen's truck which is a girly truck and easy to get in and out of it!

I will be so Thankful to have a way to get around in again and not have to bother our friends!! It is a beautiful day today with the temperature near 55 degrees!!

I have been given so many awards while I have been ill. One problem with this is that I can't remember who gave them to me except for this first one!! I am so embarrassed!! I should have written the name in the script when I copied and pasted these!! The first one was given to me from Nancy over at Nancy's Nonsense Thank you so much for thinking of me!!!
If you gave me any of the other ones please let me know and I will put your names on them!! I think I thanked you for them, I HOPE!!! Be sure and take any one of these awards if you would like one!!!

I am going to call Glo today and see how she is doing. She came home one day this week. So that is good news!!OK, I have given her a call this afternoon and she is still weak. She still has her sense of humor!! She said she is still kicking!! She is waiting on her lab report about her blood work. She said to tell all her blogging friends "Thanks" for their many prayers and Please pray for her sister who slipped in the water and they think she may have broken her knee again!!

I am so sorry to hear about all the people down south of me who are iced in with out heat. My son-in law's sister lives in Mountain View AR and she will not have power until Sunday or Monday!

Sunday Night!

We are to get snow tomorrow and the next day. It has been so cold!! It was 21 degrees today but felt like 6 degrees!! Brr!! But it is winter and January!!

I talked on the phone to Glo last night and she is still in the North Kansas City hospital. Her heart rate the first of the week was 122 but now it is 46 so the Doctors are still watching her and she still is getting a IV. Thanks for your prayers for her! She sure does appreciate you all.

She was watching the Miss America Pageant last night and she told me Miss Missouri was from her home town! She didn't make the cut but I thought she was pretty. Glo said she watched her grow up. I lived in Glo's home town from June of 1953 to December of 1954. We move there on Queen Elizabeth's Coronation Day. I listened to it on the radio.

My Daddy didn't get us a TV until 1955!! I went next door and watched TV with our neighbors from time to time. I was so happy to get a TV when we did, and my Dad just loved it, I don't remember when Gunsmoke first came on but he loved that show. I was to old for the old Mickey Mouse show but I watched it any way!!!I remember watching Dick Clark and American Bandstand when it was new!!

I just got off the phone with Glo and she had her procedure yesterday. The surgeon took out a 10 millimeter stone. It was dark black. She said she is not in pain now and feels so much better!! Now they are working on getting her heart adjusted and the correct medicines. She said to tell everyone "Thanks" for your prayers!!!

It is a beautiful day and the temperature is 60 degrees!! It is suppose to cool off by tomorrow and have snow by the week end!! Boy, oh Boy, I am ready for some warmer weather!!

Nancy and I got out this morning to go to the Dr's office. She had a shot and I had lab work for my kidneys. I see the kidney specialist next week. I am hoping for a good report!! We both are feeling much better!

I just had a phone call from Glo. Glo has a blog at Young at Heart. She is in the North Kansas City hospital.Over the week end she became ill and started vomiting up blood. The Dr. said she has a gall stone stuck in her bile duct by her liver. She had her gall bladder taken out 30 years ago. They were going to try to get rid of the gall stone today but her pulse went up to 122 and they weren't able to get it down so she had to go back to her room. She asked me to asked you all to pray for her recovery. I know how much I appreciated your prayers this fall and winter for me!! Thanks already, for praying for Glo!!

Thank you all so much for your prayers!! My hand is much better! I am able to use it again!! Praise God!

It is time to get out all the yearly receipts for my missionary daughters mission organization! For a while a I wondered how that was going to go!! But I am able to use the computer better and I can do this!!

I had a checkup last week and my stents were all opened and working! My kidneys are still needing baby-ed and so I am trying to eat right and drink plenty of fluids! I just wish I like water better!!

Thank you for all your kind comments!!They mean so much when you are feeling not up to what you would like to be feeling!! But Praise God Iam so much better then I was!!!

This is what I have been doing for the past week! Resting! This is a cute icon that Denise sent me a while back.Thank you!

I got my splint off last Wednesday and the Dr. said He wasn't putting a cast on it because my fingers were starting to freeze and not bend and they would end up like sticks if he did. I have had to soak my hand 2 or 3 times a day to keep it pliable. I just have to be careful not to knock my hand against anything!

I still have a goose egg on my hand but not so big now.

Thank you for your wonderful comments and well wishes for me and your precious comments for Kelly! She felt so bad about this!! But it was just one of those freaky things that happens!!

When I signed in tonight I see where Mary over at Mary's Writing Nook has been really sick. I am sorry to hear this I have to get all caught up again and see how all of you are getting along!

This week I go and see about the stents in my kidneys and how all that is doing.

Merry Christmas??? Even with what happened!

Yes, my hand is in a splint!! On Christmas Eve we were over at Gramps house. We had opened gifts and visited for a while. It was time to leave and I said"Kelly give me a hand and help me up. She has helped me up a million time before!!! She reached down and took my hand between my little finger and the palm of my hand and pulled! I said Kelly, that hurt!! When we got out and into the truck I looked down at my hand and there was a goose egg bigger then a lemon almost the size of a orange!!!

Karen said, "You are going to the ER"! They took ex-rays and I have a hair line fracture in my hand. They could not put it in a cast because of the swelling. Kelly felt S0000 bad!! Of course Kelly's siblings said, 'Way to go KELLY, brake Mom's hand on Christmas Eve!!

I have to go to the Dr. this week and see if they can put it in a cast.

Other then that I had a wonderful Christmas!!

Happy Birthday to my Dear daughter Kelly! She has been a blessing to all of us in our family and friends!God gave her a servant's heart and a loving spirit she shares with all of us!

I am doing better and on this NO Salt diet and I mean NO Salt, well I guess I get some 2000 mg a day. But when you count them up they go fast!! The wonderful side of this is that I have lost 13 pounds from watching my sodium intake! The other benefits is that I got rid of the fluid on my lungs and can breathe so much better! The other is the swelling in my feet has gone down and this is really a good thing!

This is why I haven't been out visiting much, is if I sit to long at the computer they start to get big as balloons!!

I am going to try to start reading your blogs but not leave comments,and see how that goes! So if you have one of the counter deals that tells you who has been to visit you and you see I have been there and not left a comment you will know what I am doing.

Some of my blogging buddies told me it would be a little easier if I would visit 5 blogs each day and leave a comment and that way in a week or so I could make my rounds. So I am thinking that sounds like a good idea! After the first of the year I will see if I can do this!!

Some of you have asked about my special needs daughter Nancy and how her health is doing. We go to the Kansas City Cancer Center every other week since June for the lupus. Nancy's blood count is going up and this is good.

She really gets into the Christmas spirit because she is like she is between 5-10 years old, so she loves Christmas! She loves to give gifts and we have to hold her back or she would give everyone she knows or would like to know a gift!!But maybe she really has the right Christmas spirit!

I wanted to share the pictures Kelly took of our 3 foot live Christmas tree!! Kelly bought it for me! She has only had 3 live trees since she was born.

Yes, Kelly does have a laptop but we can't shut the lid or move it one drop or it doesn't work!! So we are just happy at this time to be able to have a working computer!! The tree now has pretty decorations under it!

This is my new, well new to me love seat that Kelly got me for Christmas. If I had known that our coffee table looked so lived in I would have picked up a little!! The Kitty Cat is Myrtle . She is Karen's cat but she lives with us! We have one more cat who is huge, Zeke . He has long brown hair and very gentle.

Have I shared that Karen has lost 115 pounds!! She is looking so nice! Kelly has lost 60 pounds! She looks great, too!!

Well, Boy Oh Boy, is this fun being able to post about something beside my health!!! I am losing weight too but that is because of the medicine I am taking for my kidneys.

I have been working on getting out Christmas cards and my special needs daughter, Nancy loves to send and get cards. All through the year when we are at Doctor's offices she asked for every one she meets and talks to for their address and tells them she will send them a Christmas card!! So,I have addressed 30 Christmas cards just for her!! She wanted to send more, but I had to cut the list down because of my health this year. It gives her so much joy to send these out that I can't bear to not do this!!

I have been to the Doctor's for my test on my heart and GOOD news! I have no blockage in my arteries in my heart and no fluid in there either! Praise God!
I have lost 10 pounds in 5 or 6 days so some of the swelling has gone down. I am breathing better and the top of my lungs are better! There were crackles in the bottom of my lungs but I am sure they will get better!
The kidney specialist put me on a 2 Gram Sodium diet which is 2000 mg a day and does that go fast!!! Every thing on earth as salt in it!! But I am following it!!
I really want to Thank you for your prayers! You all have been a wonderful Blessing to me!!

We were able to get a little live 3 foot tree up and decorated. When I am able I will post pictures of some of our Christmas decorations.

I had a wonderful hone call from my friend
Mary on Monday! This was a wonderful gift of her time! I appreciated it so much!!! We were able to get to know each and it was like we had been friends for years!!
Yesterday Glo called me and this was great so I could find out how she was doing. She has had some serious health problems too. She is doing better.Praise God!
