Here it is Saturday again!! When I saw this adorable icon it made me think of when I was a little girl and we had a bath once a week on Saturday nights!!! Yes, Grams is that old!! I know we did take sponge baths during the week!

Back in the 50's our neighbors had a bunch of kids and had a big wash tub. They heated the water and then each one of the kids took turns taking a bath!! Once a week on Saturday night!

By this time my folks had a real bathroom and it had a real tub in the bathroom! Oh that was so nice!!

But back in the 1940's when I was a little girl we didn't have a bath room and we had an outhouse! And sure enough we did use the old sears catalog for toilet paper!!!

After I was married one farm house that we lived in didn't have a bathroom either!! We had an outhouse! In the winter we had a chamber pot that had to be emptied every morning!! UGH!! This was in the early 60's! I was so happy when we moved back into town after living out there on a house back from the main road on a lane!! It turned out to be one of the record snow years we have had in Jackson County!! So of course we were snowed in a lot and stuck in the ditch over and over!! I don't think we good snow tires like we have now!

The new baby comes home today! On Thursday when we went tearing up there to see him we didn't take our camera with us! No kidding!! But someone else took a picture of me holding baby Marcello! I am so happy for that! As soon as they send the E-mail with this picture I will post it!!!

We have a new baby!!!

Since I posted this He is Here!!!! Marcello Jovani was born at 12:54 pm and he weighed 8 pounds and 5oz and has a lot of black hair!!! Both Mama and baby are just fine!! Welcome to the family!!

Today is my daughter Carrie's Birthday!! Happy Birthday !!! She is my first born!
When I had Carrie 51 years ago today it was so hot! No air conditioning back then! In fact the handy men were taking down the storm window putting up the screens!! I had Carrie over at the old Connley Maternity hospital in Kansas City, It isn't even there any more!!
I remember we had to stay for about 5 days back then!!

What makes this Birthday so special is that Carrie's son Jeremy and his wife Sofia are having their baby today! Having a grand baby on your Birthday is very special!!!

We know that it will be a little boy. Jey and Sofia had their first baby in 2004 and he had Potter's disease and he only lived about an hour after he was born. This was a very sad time. In 2005 they had a beautiful little girl Valerie. Last year on June 22nd Kevin who is so cute and is taking his first steps now was born. Karen and Kelly are up at Jey's house watching the kids for them. Sofia's Mother will be flying here on June 2nd and she will be a big help for them!!

Of course I am very excited about being a Great Grandma once again!!!

Nancy's Dr.'s appointment went really well and we don't have to go back to this Dr until next May! In June we have 3 Dr.'s appointments!!! I haven't heard back from the dentist but I know they are working on it.

When I hear from Karen or Jey I will post again and tell you about our new baby!!!

I just looked at all my old post that are up and low and behold I used the Happy Birthday Icon for Sarah's Birthday, too!! I had forgotten I had just used this!! Does this mean Grams is getting old ??? LOL

What is going on at Grams house

Girly Comments & Graphics

Ok, Here are the two newest Blogthings and you know me I love doing these things!! I try to be a good listener but sometimes I DO space out and start thinking of something else!! Bad Grams!!!
We had a nice Memorial Day . Kelly cooked out for us and it all turned out and tasted really good! Brats, Hot Dogs, Potato Salad, Potato Chips, Pickles, Green Tea for Nancy, and some kind of dessert, I think it was a fruit compote with cool whip! It was good. Karen and Kelly are right back on their diets! Karen has lost 77 pounds!! Way to go Karen!!! As I just told my son when I talked to him this afternoon, Grams is still as big as a barn!! To many broken cookies!!! I may just have to do something about this!!!
Tomorrow is another Dr. day for Nancy.

You Are an Okay Listener

You try to be a good listener, and usually you are.

But some people are just so boring and difficult to listen to!

Your mind tends to wander during some conversations.

You are likely to space out a little or try to change the subject to something more interesting.

Your Ice Cream Personality:
You like to think of yourself as a fairly modest person. And it's true that you don't talk yourself up... but you're also pretty happy with who you are.

You are incredibly cautious. You rather miss out on something than make a mistake. No one would ever call you wild... but they would call you responsible.

You are a somewhat open minded person, but deep down you're fairly conservative. You don't like trying new things very much. And if you do find something new you like, you stick with it.

You tend to have a one track mind. You prefer not to multitask.

You can be a big dramatic and over the top sometimes. You are bold in every way

Have a safe and nice Memorial Day Weekend!

Girly Comments & Graphics

I hope you all have a great Memorial Day Weekend!! Kelly,Nancy, and I went out to the Cemetery this afternoon. I wanted to decorate my Mother and Daddy's grave. Nancy had found a flag to put on their grave and was very happy about this.

The funeral home was holding a grave side service near their graves . So we turned around and came home. We will have to finished this later! My Dad passed away in 1962 and my Mom in 1992. Some time over the weekend we will go up to Independence to the other cemetery where the kids Grandparents on their Dad's side are buried.

After my Dad passed away we always took my Mom out to the cemetery every year up until the year she went home to be with the Lord. I have pictures of Kelly when she was really little like about 2 years old sitting on the edge of the grave and Mom bending down and putting the flowers around the grave! It is such a sweet picture!

I hope you all have a safe and pleasant Memorial Day weekend! Next week is the time for the new great grand son to be born! So I will be writing about this I am sure!!

I can't stop until I say Thank You to all the Service Men who have sacrificed so much for us down though the years.

Two fun meme's on Tuesday!

Your Noble British Name Is:
Lady Guinevere Sophia Ironside

You Are a Sweet Person
When it comes to snacks, you're more likely to grab some candy than heat up a pizza.

There's a good chance you're female (women prefer sweet snacks)...
Or at least, you prefer to be in the company of women.

Your tastes are simple and predictable. You are young at heart.
You tend to crave food you can just grab and eat.
Are You Sweet or Salty? Grams says "You Think!!!" One of my down falls is liking sweets way to much!!!

Here is a couple of fun meme I found at Blogthings!

It is a beautiful day with a blue sky and a few clouds and not to hot, just right! I love it!! Thanks for all your prayers for Nancy. I don't know when they will get all the consulting finished and be able to know when then can work on her. She is worried about this so I need you all to pray for peace about this for her!! Thanks!!

I am enjoying my new Bible! In fact I want to finish up here and dig in and get some studying done!!

New Bible Yea!!

I haven't posted for a few days! Kelly and I took Nancy to the Dentist yesterday. They didn't know what to do and gave me a letter to give to our Dr who in turn will call all of her other Dr.'s and see if she can be put to sleep or if she will have to have each tooth extracted one at a time and then back to the dentist for another one to be taken out. Nancy's health is so fragile that the thinking at this time is that it would be to much to put her through, by putting her in the hospital to have what she needs taken care of. She had a lot of infection in her teeth yesterday. It will be a while before I know what we will be doing.

On a more positive note Karen and Linda took me to the Joyce Myers's meeting at the Sprint Center in Down town Kansas City today. I have a Amplified Bible, Carrie gave me 27 years ago and it is held together with Duct tape!! I have been wanting a new one for a while and Karen bought me a new one today!! Yea!! I have a really nice New King James Version large print that I use a lot but I love my Amplified Bible! Karen said "Why didn't you tell me and I would have given you one at Christmas time"! It makes it much easier to understand I think.

Here is a wonderful verse : I thank God in all my remembrance of you. In every prayer of mine I always make entreaty and petition for you with all joy (delight). Phillippians 1: 3 and 4

Wednesday!

Girly Comments & Graphics

I love this little Bear with his overalls on, the little Honey Bee's buzzing around him! I looked and I use him the last time on a Tuesday. So since this is Wednesday I am going with him!! If I don't get this finished it may be Thursday!! Nancy wants me to stop and make her some tea!! Nancy loves tea! We try to buy the kind that doesn't have any caffeine in it because she likes it so much! She drinks way to much of it. I get her green tea and she drinks it with out any problems. It is suppose to be good for you.
So far I haven't had to turn on the AC and this makes me so happy! But it won't be long before it warms up enough that I say," I can't stand this Turn on the Air!"!

This is an adorable little icon was in an E-mail I got from Denise over at Shorty- Bears Place. I put this on my side bar and if you would like it on yours also, just grab it and use it.

Here is a picture taken of me on Mother's Day. As you can see I need another perm! I don't why I didn't take my jacket off before Kelly snapped this picture!!!

How well Do You Know Your States!

You Know Your States
You got 9/10 correct.

You've got a pretty good handle on US geography.
There's a good chance you've visited at least a dozen of the fifty states.

How Well Do You Know Your States?

It didn't tell me which one I missed or I didn't see it, if it did!! I think this is going to bug me that I don't know which one I missed! lol! This meme has been out there for a while but I must of missed it!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day!! Nancy and I were able to go to church yesterday and that was a joy!! After church the girls took me out to eat. We stopped at Cracker Barrel to start with but the wait was very long! 90 minutes !! So we decided to go some where else!
I had a wonderful meal of BBQ pot roast on mashed potato's, Texas Toast and Baked Beans! Nancy wanted the same.
I had looked at the menu and I saw two chicken breast in a bed of some kind of rice and broccoli and I said, Oh, Good Night! That is what we are eating so much of since Karen has been on this diet!! She took one look and said YEA!!! And that is what she had!! She was so happy to find something that is on her diet!! Kelly had chicken fingers and I can't remember what else!!

I was so tired when we got home that I took a long ZZZZZ! Woke up and my son called and it was fun to talk to him!! Carrie called me later in the evening and we sent her, before and after pictures of Karen ! She was amazed!! Karen isn't ready for me to put these up on my blog, yet!! When she reaches her goal we will!!! She is looking good!! So is Kell-Kell!! I hope everyone had a blessed Mother's Day!!

Happy Mothers Day to my Blogging Friends

Girly Comments & Graphics
Happy Mothers Day to all my dear blogging friends!!! This week in my E-mail I received this lovely poems from both Sandy and Mary!! I had been looking for this poem for a long time and was so happy to find it again!!

I am going to share it with you.

A Mothers Journey

Author Unknown

The young mother set her foot on the path of life. 'Is This the long way?' she asked. And the guide said: 'Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it... But The end will be better than the beginning.' *

But the young mother was happy, and she would not Believe that anything could be better than these years. So she Played with her children, and gathered flowers for Them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and The sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried,'Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.' *

Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was Dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother Drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children

said,'Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come.'

And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and The children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,' A little patience and we are there.'So the children climbed, and when they reached the top They said, 'Mother, we would not have done it without you.' *

And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up At the stars and said, 'This is a better day than the last, for my Children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage.Today, I 've given them strength.'*

And the next day came strange clouds which darkened The earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped And stumbled, and the mother said: 'Look up. Lift your eyes to the light.'

And the children looked and saw above the clouds An everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the Darkness. And that night the Mother said,'This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God.'*

And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and The years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with Courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her,For she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill,And beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And Mother said, 'I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end Is better than the beginning, for my children can Walk alone, and their children after them.'**

And the children said, 'You will always walk with us,Mother, even when you have gone through the gates.'And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates Closed after her. And they said: 'We cannot see her But she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She Is a living presence.......'*

Your Mother is always with you... She's the whisper Of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach In your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand On your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives Inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop She's the place you came from, your first home; and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love And your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can Separate you.

Not time, not space... Not even death!*

My sweet Mother went home to be with the Lord in July of 1992. She was 88 years old! My kids called her Grandma Cookie! She was loved by every body!!

I love this little bear and his pot of honey!! Love the little bee's buzzing around him!

This morning Nancy had to have her blood drawn to see if her thyroid medicine was adjusting to the pills the Dr. prescribed for her. After we finished with that we went to McDonalds and got some lunch and Kelly took us out to a lake North of town to park and watch the birds play on the water while we ate our lunch. There was a large crane and a huge goose out there this morning!! Nancy enjoyed our little outing and so did Kelly and me! Not much else going on today and I like it like that just fine!!!!

I woke up Kelly and she came upstairs and she thought it sounded really bad, too! We didn't get the damage they did closer to Independence and Kansas City ! It was pretty scary!!
