Our Christmas

Girly Comments & Graphic

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We did! On Sunday we all went over to the kids Dad's for Christmas at their house. When we were first divorced I stayed home on Christmas Eve and got everything ready for the next day. I always called my Mom and we visited while I was waiting for the girls to come home. After Mom was gone, they started inviting me to come along, too. Bill,Becky and their family came too. After we opened gifts the kids Dad, had bought Deli trays and we had all kinds of meats and cheeses to choose from.

We came home and one of the girls from the sheltered work shop where Nancy worked for many years came over with her Mother and they exchanged gifts. We had a wonderful time visiting with them.We always have such a fun time with them.

On Christmas Eve we went up to Jeremy and Sofia to be with them and her Mother and Dad who had flew in from Mexico on the 20th! They had brought along one of their grand daughter who is eight years old and so cute! Sofia had a huge turkey in the oven and all kinds of wonderful food cooking!! We ate and ate and visited and then we opened gifts with the little great grand kids! OH What a joy that was!! Valerie and Kevin were adorable!! Karen had given baby Kevin a little tiny rubber hammer and Valerie grabbed it and took off for a wall that she had seen her Daddy hammering up a star!! She just loved it!!

Karen came over on Christmas morning and we opened our gifts and Nancy was a buzz over all her gifts and she is so fun to watch!! She liked everything ! Bill Becky and their family came up and Becky's Mom came too!!

Kelly cooked a ham and had mashed potato's, green bean casserole, sweet potato's, corn pudding, hot rolls, Becky brought a brisket and BBQ beans and some other stuff!! Kelly did a really did a good job and every one thought she did great! She had made all kinds of desserts!

We opened gifts with Bill's and that was fun too!! Jake left for a skiing trip to CO this morning that he was really looking forward too!! The girls and Sarah took off for the movies and saw the new national treasure movie. While they were gone our neighbor and his boys dropped in for a few minutes to exchange gifts with Nancy and of course that made Nancy's Christmas complete!! I talked a couple of times with the family in Guadalajara. They were all missing us and wishing they were all up here too!! We are hoping it works out next year they can all be here to have Christmas with us and their son's family's! We will post Christmas pictures later!!

I slept most of the afternoon today! No kidding! I shut my eyes and I was out!! Maybe on Thursday or Friday I will get out to all the blogs and catch up on your Christmas and read about what a lovely time you all had on Christmas!!

Christmas Blessings!

We had a wonderful blessing for our family last night. Nancy's chemo nurse from a couple of years ago called me a few weeks ago and said she and her friend were trying to teach their kids that Christmas is more then X boxes and a new video games. She asked if it would be okay if she and her friend and her friends kids could come over before Christmas and brings some gifts for Nancy, Kelly and me!

I said this would be great! Last night here they came like Santa in a sleigh jingling all the way!! She is a very giggly bubbly person with a great personality You would have to know Robin to know that I really mean this!!!

They came in with their kids laden down with gifts in all their arms! The kids were so precious! The boys were about 9 years old and they were so adorable carrying in the gifts! The little 7 year old girl was so cute and I guess she had helped wrapped and choose some of the gifts!!

We were so blessed by the their generosity that it brought me to tears!! What a lovely thoughtful way to be a blessing to someone at this time of the year!!
I thought I would have to scrape Nancy off the walls she was so excited!! She received two bags of socks and color books and dot to dot books and lotions! She wanted a nutcracker and they had got one for her! I put some of her gifts up for Christmas morning! We are so blessed by their kindness!

Back a couple of years ago when we found out Nancy had to have 6 months of chemo's treatment I had everyone I could think of praying for the right chemo nurse to be there for Nancy!
God answered our prayers with Robin and she said, at the time I want to do all of Nancy's chemo for the rest of the time and the nursing staff worked this out so she could!! She was able to make this so much fun for a special needs person that Nancy went around telling every body I love my chemo treatments!

I would have to explain to people that Robin made it enjoyable for her! She would buy her large Dr. Peppers drinks and make huge turkey sandwiches! We have been so blessed to have had two of the nicest chemo nurses at both hospital both times for her treatment of Lupus. We are so Blessed this Christmas to have Nancy stable, not worse,we would love for her to be better, but stable is good! Because last Christmas she was worse!! Praise God!!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!!

Seeing the Christmas Lights

This is it!! Five Days until Christmas!! I want to Thank everyone who stopped by yesterday and wished Kelly a Happy Birthday! This was so kind of everyone to take time out at this busy time of the year to wish her Birthday Greetings.
Kelly and I did have a good time in the kitchen!! She baked her cake and then made a couple batches of candy. She had copied and pasted the recipe I found over at Peas Corner a while back. She printed these out and she was ready to make candy.
The candies turned out looking good!! If they taste as good as what I licked out of the spoon she gave me,well yum!!

Karen came over and we had supper and then Ice cream and Birthday cake. Kelly opened her gifts and then we were off for an evening of fun!!
My grand daughter Sarah went along with us, First stop was the Independence Center. Kelly and Sarah ran in and Kelly was able to get a pair of boots that were marked down from 55.00 to 20.00!! They are adorable and she is tickled pink!! OK that is Grams way of saying she loves them!!
Off we went to Jey and Sofia who had a gift for Kelly!! They were getting ready for Sofia folks who live in Mexico to fly in today and were getting everything ready for them. Sofia was so excited about them being able to come up for Christmas!!

Then we were off for downtown Kansas City and over to Crown Center to look at the lights and the mayors Christmas tree!! This was all so pretty!
Then off to the Country Club Plaza. There light are suppose to be known all over the country! Miles and Miles of light on the buildings where it is very upscale shopping!! Needless to say Grams doesn't shop there!! I just love looking at the lights!!

Then we took off for the beautiful old homes that are decorated so beautifully and looked at so many of them.
Karen needed some items from Target and we stopped at Ward Parkway shopping center. I had a cart but Nancy got tired real fast but she did get the pets a gift!!
Ok we still were not finished!!

Karen knew of a business place that is decked out to the hilt (OH MY) and timed to music on a local FM station just for this display!! It was something to see!! We didn't get home until 11:30 and this is late for this old lady!! But it was a really fun time!! We always try to go out and see the lights on Kelly's Birthday!!

Happy Birthday to Kelly!!

Girly Comments & Graphics

Kelly's Birthday is December 19th!! I want to be the first to wish her a very Happy Birthday!! I know it is still Tuesday night!! I want to get a early start on her Birthday! You know the old saying My older kids our my pride but the baby of the family is my Joy!! When Kelly was little her oldest sister Carrie said to me " Mom, you act like the sun comes up in the morning just for Kelly!! I said, "What! You mean it doesn't !
This pretty much tells you my feelings for Kelly! She was born when I was 40 years old! She is a joy to our whole family. She is always singing songs, where ever she is at or doing! She helps take care of Nancy and me! This is a blessing that I don't take lightly! I know there are days when she would like to be doing something different like having her own family to care for and this would be a great prayer request!!!
She is going to make candy and bake and I am going to sit in the kitchen with her and and help her whenever I can!! I will talk and she will bake!! If you would like to wish her a Happy Birthday you can go over to her blog at Caregiversdiary! Happy Birthday Dear Kelly!!

A Lovely E- mail with a Sweet Story

I found this wonderful little story in my E-mail from Sandy and Glo this morning!! Mary suggested I use it as a post and that is just what I did! I hope you enjoy this as much I did!

Adventure With Grandma

I remember my first Christmas adventure with Grandma. I was just a kid. I remember tearing across town on my bike to visit her on theday my big sister dropped the bomb: "There is no Santa Claus," she jeered. "Even dummies know that!" My Grandma was not the gushy kind, never had been. I fled to her that day because I knew she would be straight with me. I knew Grandma always told the truth, and I knew that the truth always went down a whole lot easier when swallowed with one of her world-famous cinnamon buns. I knew they were world-famous, because Grandma said so. It had to be true.

Grandma was home, and the buns were still warm. Between bites, I told her everything. She was ready for me. "No Santa Claus!" she snorted. "Ridiculous! Don't believe it. That rumor has been going around for years,&nb sp;and it makes me mad, plain mad. Now, put on your coat, and let's go." "Go? Go where, Grandma?" I asked. I hadn't even finished my second world-famous, cinnamon bun. "Where" turned out to be Kerby's General Store, the one store in town that had a little bit of just about everything. As we walked through its doors, Grandma handed me ten dollars. That was a bundle in those days.

"Take this money," she said, "and buy something for someone who needs it. I'll wait for you in the car." Then she turned and walked out of Kerby's. I was only eight years old. I'd often gone shopping with my mother, but never had I shopped for anything all by myself. The store seemed big and crowded, full of people scrambling to finish their Christmas shopping.

For a few moments I just stood there, confused, clutching that ten-dollar bill, wondering what to buy, and who on earth to buy it for.I thought of everybody I knew: my family, my friends, my neighbors, the kids at school, the people who went to my church. I was just about thought out, when I suddenly thought of Bobby Decker. He was a kid with bad breath and messy hair, and he sat right behind me in Mrs. Pollock's grade-twoclass. Bobby Decker didn't have a coat.

I knew that because he never went out for recess during the winter. His mother always wrote a note, telling the teacher that he had a cough, but all we kids knew that Bobby Decker didn't have a cough, and he didn't have a coat. I fingered the ten-dollar bill with growing excitement. I would buy Bobby Decker a coat! I settled on a red corduroy one that had a hood to it. It looked real warm, andhe would like that. "Is this a Christmas present for someone?" the lady behind the counter asked kindly, as I laid my ten dollars down. "Yes," I replied shyly. "It's for Bobby."

The nice lady smiled at me. I didn't get any change, but she put the coat in a bag and wished me a Merry Christmas. settled on a red corduroy one that had a hood to it. It looked real warm, and he would like that. "Is this a Christmas present for someone?" the lady behind the counter asked kindly, as I laid my ten dollars down. "Yes," I replied shyly. "It's for Bobby." The nice lady smiled at me. I didn't get any change, but she put the coat in a bag and wished me a Merry Christmas.

That evening, Grandma helped me wrap the coat in Christmas paper and ribbons (a little tag fell out of the coat, and Grandma tucked it in her Bible) and she wrote, "To Bobby, From Santa Claus" on the present--Grandma said that Santa always insisted on secrecy. Then she drove me over to Bobby Decker's house, explaining as we went that I was now and forever officially one of Santa's helpers. Grandma parked down the street from Bobby's house, and she and I crept noiselessly and hid in the bushes by his front walk. Then Grandma gave me a nudge. "All right, Santa Claus," she whispered, "get going." I took a deep breath, dashed for his front door, threw the present down on his step, pounded his doorbell and flew back to the safety of the bushes and Grandma. Together we waited breathlessly in the darknes for the front door to open. Finally it did, and there stood Bobby.

Fifty years haven't dimmed the thrill of those moments spent shivering, beside my Grandma, in Bobby Decker's bushes. That night, I realized that those awful rumors about Santa Claus were just what Grandma said they were: ridiculous. Santa was alive and well, and we were on his team.

I still have the Bible, with the tag tucked inside: $19.95. He who has no Christmas in his heart will never find Christmas under a tree.

Thankful Thursday

I haven't done a Thankful Thursday for a few weeks so I think it is time to write down some thankful thoughts!
I am so very thankful that we didn't lose power during the recent ice storm! I really do understand how hard this is for all the people with out power in the mid-west. This is truly something that you don't want to go through.
I am thankful we are all staying healthy this winter! I had a few sniffles but that is all.
So thankful for our heat and a nice warm house!
I am thankful for the funds to be able to buy Christmas gifts for my family and friends!
Something even better is if I didn't have the funds my family would not mind at all! Except Nancy and we would see to her!!
I am so thankful for my Great grand kids!!
Karen and Kelly just ran into Jey's family at Wal- Mart and little two years old Valerie wanted Karen and Kelly to see the pretty lights over on Chicago Street. They are following Jey and Sofia and the kids over there to see them. But what brought tears to my eyes is that little Valerie doesn't know that Karen helped put those light together 20 years ago! The person who started this was Karen's youth pastor many years ago!!
I am so thankful for lovely great grand children and grand children who bring a smile to my heart and sometimes a tear to my eyes!! I just thought that was so sweet that she wanted to share the lights with them! These lights start with the whole Bible story and ending with Christ ascending into Heaven after He was raised from the dead!! It is always awe inspiring to drive through and view it.
I am so Thankful for God sending His precious Son to the earth to live and die for me! And for YOU!! God's great Gift for us!! The best gift of all.

Another Ice storm on the way!

My friend Mary gave us all this adorable snowmen button!! Thank You!!

Karen just left my house and Kelly was going to go out to Wal-Mart with her but when she went outdoors it was already raining and freezing!! Karen said it is starting to get slick! We are suppose to get a worse ice storm then we did over the weekend. It is 29 right now!! If I am not on here tomorrow it is because the power is out! In our area 5 years ago we had a terrible ice storm one of the worst in the history of Kansas City! It ruined many fine old trees that had been here for many many years! It made a mess out of my maple tree and it is just starting to look better. My pin oak withstood the ice better because it is younger. We were without power for three days and it was so cold!! What they are having in Oklahoma it is like what we had 5 years ago!! Please pray that we won't lose power. I have enough back up oxygen's tanks for Nancy for a few days and I have a lot of the little portable ones too!! We have food and meds so we are okay!! Just very cold!! Last time I wore a stocking hat, gloves and layers of clothes, and a coat!!

UPDATE

It is almost 2:30 and we still have power!! Praise God! It is a real mess outside and it is still raining and maybe a little sleet mixed in with it. There are a lot of outages over in the city and I heard up in St Joesph and their area there are thousands without power. Thank you for your prayers. It has stayed around 31 degrees and this is good.

Being a Blessing at Christmas

Mary at Mary's writting nook and Sharon at Sit With Me Awhile are hosting Being a Blessing at Christmas today.
This is the day we are to share what we have done to be a blessing to others at this Christmas season. This is what I did. I gave money for my grandson in Guadalajara
Mexico. John goes out each Saturday to the very poor district of the city. He takes food with him and passes it out and the children are delighted to be fed. This is a real treat for these children who don't have have much. He also takes along his guitar and plays it and sings song for the kids. He also shares about God's love to all the kids. He tells them about Jesus and what He has done for them! This past Saturday, John was able to feed 70 kids!!! Kelly made this great picture deal for me!!
We are under another winter weather advisory and more freezing rain is in the forecast! I am praying it warms up and goes around us.

Sunday and we have Ice on everything!!

We are shut in today after we had a bunch of ice over the weekend! It is cold, too!! All the churches in the area our closed today. The weather man is calling for more ice on Monday night and into Tuesday! I don't mind snow but the ice is so treacherous to get out on. Too many people end up in the ER with fractures and their cars in the ditches. I think Kelly is downstairs wrapping Christmas gifts!! She is going to do some of our Christmas baking this week, too!

I was over at Hootin Anni and she has a cat that looks a lot like our Zeke and I am going to try to download it to this post for her to see! OK, it's on here!!

Zeke

It is getting time for the Chiefs to come on TV for their game with Denver. They have not had a good season this year!! We have a lot of new players this year!! But I always hope for the best!!
I hope you have a good Sunday and stay warm and enjoy your day with your family!!

What do the Holidays Mean to You?

What The Holidays Mean to You
For you, the holidays are a very spiritual time. You have as much holiday fun as everyone else - but you never forget what you're celebrating.
You celebrate the holidays in an over the top style. If something is cute, you'll buy it. People end up with a lot of gifts from you - and your house is like a holiday wonderland, full of decorations.
During the holidays, you feel magical. You love all of the decorations and how happy people are. You like to sit back and take it all in.
You think the holidays should be nostalgic and sweet. The holidays bring out your inner child.
Your best holiday memories are of childhood foods and traditions. You secretly still wish you believed in Santa Claus.
What Do the Holidays Mean to You?

Once I get going on these Question deal meme I can't stop! This one sound about right!! I love the Christmas programs at church and the ones the choir puts on too!!

One year when Kelly was really little like about 5 she was in a Christmas program at church and had this part where she was to open the door and say Welcome to Mary and Joseph and she wouldn't do it and peeked her little face out the little window and said Welcome in a whisper! Only problem you could not see her or hear her! My Mother was there that night and she was really old at the time and it was a very cold night and she had made the effort to go and we couldn't hear or see her!! But we always talked and laughed about it later, the time Kelly wouldn't open the door or say Welcome!!

I think she was about six years old when she was an Angel at a Christmas play. She was wearing a plaid skirt and white tights with a halo and wings! As she sang her songs in the choir she danced, lifted her skirt, and twirled it around!! We just never knew what she was going to do in a Christmas Pageant!!

If I could Dance on my Street!

If I could go and and dance in the street I would! The Doctor came in and said he asked his nurse if she had given him the correct lab results!! These must be Karen's
No they were mine and they were all GOOD! Everything! Everything was in the normal range! The Doctor was so pleased and so was I. He said whatever I was doing keep on doing it!
What a relief this is, I don't have to go back for more lab work until March!!
The weather was just cold and very windy no wintry mix! But now they say it is on the way for tonight while we sleep.
Kelly appointment went well, too. After the Dr.'s appointment Kelly and I went out to Wal-Mart to pick up Nancy 's meds. Nancy wanted mints with Christmas trees on them and she called me a zillions times to remind me to be sure and get them! I was able to and now she is happy! They aren't to eat but to put in a Christmas sack for one of her friends!

Tonight I am writing my Christmas letter! I skipped last year because I didn't want a another letter telling all about our sickness and my crippled up stuff. But things are better for the first time in a while so I can tell every one Nancy is not worse but stable!! Praise God! She only needs oxygen at nights and it has been a while since she needed it in the day time! I didn't do a Thankful Thursday but I do indeed have so much to be Thankful for each day!!

Thank you for your Prayers!!

Thank you all for praying for Nancy today! It really did help! You all are a real blessing to my family and to me!! The weather man just said a wintry mix tomorrow !
Kelly has a dental appointment and I have a Dr.'s appointment but mine is in town!!
So this is why I am not doing Wordless Wednesday this week! Not because it might snow!! Cause I have to go to town and see the Doctor and he will have the dreaded lab work report in his hands! Never fear he will tell me in No uncertain terms what my blood work showed up with at the lab! I am always so happy when we get this over with!!! If I would just be good for three months I wouldn't have this fretting of a scolding to go through!!
Please keep Glo's family in your prayers. I had a E-mail this afternoon and her cousin's daughter Brandi has very serious health issues. She ask us to tell everyone we know to pray. The Doctors are talking amputation of her hand. She wasn't able to put it on her blog because bloggers wasn't working for her this afternoon.
Debbie at Chocolate and Coffee needs prayer for her husband. Debbie's husband blew out some disc's in his back and the pain is unbearable. She will probably have a new post tomorrow and update everyone if he is having surgery. Thank you all!!

Happy Birthday Yesterday, Ale'! Update on Debbie

Christmas Glitter Graphics
My grand daughter in law Ale's Birthday was yesterday and I missed it!! I called her tonight to wish her a very Happy Birthday and she giggled and said Grandma my Birthday was yesterday the 2nd!! I told her how sorry I was that I always think her birthday is the 3rd!! I have it written down in my book that it is the 3rd for I really do think that is when it is for sure! Well, I guess now I will remember it is not the 3rd!
So a very Happy Birthday to you my dear Grand daughter who is a real sweet heart!! Also the Mother of my great grand son Mathias who is just adorable and so cute!! Well, how is that for being prejudice!!
My dear friend Glo over at Young at Heart is sick and in bed with flu like stuff so remember her in your prayers!!
Keep on praying for another dear friend Denise at Shortybearsplace She has a lot of serious health issues and needs a touch from God. All of her friends are holding her up in prayer!
I have another friend who is under 24/7 nursing care. I had a newsletter from her husband Bob Mason Saturday and Debbie is very ill with cancer. She is needing prayer and a touch from God, too.
Our family met the Masons down in Dallas at Church camp many years ago when they were the head of "Living Praise" a singing group at Christ for the Nations. Nancy met them and they were so nice to her!! They now have a Missions Organization and help start churches and help with orphans homes. Thank you all for praying!

Kelly just had a message on her cell phone from a friend who knows Debbie too and Debbie went home to be with Jesus last night. I would really appreciate prayer for Nancy because this will be so hard for her. She isn't able to process this and will get mad about something that has noting to do with Debbie death. I have told my family when the time comes for me to go home and be with Jesus to try and understand if she is all mad about everything . It is her way of coping but if you don't know this you get upset your self because of her behavior. Thanks for praying.

What Holiday are You!! and What Christmas ornament are you?

You Are Easter
You are an optimistic, hopeful, and genuinely sweet person.Sensitive and affectionate, you are easily touched. You love nature, animals, and anything cute or cuddly. For you, every day is a new chance - no matter what happened yesterday.
What makes you celebrate: Almost anything. You love most holidays and celebrations.
At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The peacemaker. You can prevent any squabbles that might break out.
On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Remember to include everyone

I was over at Jules Journal and saw this and thought this looks like fun Why not do it!! I am Easter!! How about that!

Both my teams lost their games this weekend. On Saturday night the Missouri Tigers lost the championship game to the Oklahoma Sooner.... Now instead of playing for the National Championship we have to hope we get a good bowl game!! This afternoon the Chiefs lost to the Chargers!! How's that for football weekend!! I really wanted MU to go all the way to the Fiesta Bowl! But its not to be! The Chiefs have tons of young players so will have to wait until next to see what they can do!! OK, Enough Whining about football!!

We didn't get the bad weather they said we were to have and I am so grateful we didn't get any ice!!

OK that was so much fun I did another one!!

This one is What Christmas Ornament are you? I was a tree!!

You are a tree
You love every part of the holidays, down to the candy canes and stockings. And you're goofy enough to put a Christmas tree ornament on your tree!
Looks about right to me!!! See side bar! :)
