A Devotional from Grams!

When I started this blog back in June, my idea was to post about my special needs daughter Nancy who is 45 years old and battles lupus and mental problems. I thought writing about this daily just might help someone else caring for their love one. Maybe to help de-stigmatise living with a person who daily has a hard time coping. But low and behold my blog took off in another direction!!

Kelly and I would really have a hard time taking care of Nancy if we didn't have a deep and abiding faith in God!! We have days that we have to lean so hard on our faith that you would not believe it! She is a hand ful for sure!!

Even if you are not battling deep metal problems like Nancy, here are some wonderful scripture for you, if you are facing fear, and a whole bunch of other things that can make life so miserable!

First verse......... if you are disturbed........ For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power.of love. and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
I draw on this a lot.... when I feel fear I remember it isn't from God and I feel peace over flowing me.

second verse...... if you need courage today.......... Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say, on the Lord. Psalm 27:14
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and He shall thrust out the enemy from before thee: and say , Destroy them. Deuteronomy 33:27

Where else would you rather be then underneath the loving Ever Lasting Arms of our Savior! He will keep us!! This should give us abundant courage to face any thing!

third verse....... are You sick today and need a touch from God!......... For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord.
I am slipping in another verse just like I did on the verses above!......... He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. Psalm 107:20

Fourth verse....... are you having Financial problems......... The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing . Psalm 34:10
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
It said or needs not our wants.... and he is so faithful on this, if He didn't take care of us we would be sunk!!

Fifth verse....... If things look hard today......... The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in Him. Nahum 1:7

Isn't it great to know that He know us and where we are!!! Without Him how lost I would be!!
He is our everything and give us Hope and Faith to get through each day!!

Great verses anytime Grams! We had a wonderful time with our family but as you know it is always difficult to leave them behind. We had lots of Emma time and took lots of pictures. It is good to be back home though.

Great post Gram! It does seem that certain versus just lend themselves to comfort us at different times. For me, the main one is always Philippians 4:13! I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. If I could just ALWAYS remember that! ALWAYS! I'd be in such good shape!!!

Grams it is good to have those impressed upon and washing out the opposing words that are within our minds. This is a time of truths so tell us dear, examples of this in your day. No shame. Speak about each verse with an example of how you overcome the limitations within yourself. How when you experience..(give an example)..and don't no how to respond and this verse..(example).. revels and empowers. It speaks in the word that these are the things which we are to speak of what we have seen in him, heard and EXPERIENCED in him.
When Nancy (or any of our loved ones)is struggling with >>>> how can one respond to it. Your wisdom of experience is invaluable. Your devotion is sound and encouraging. Empower us with your experience please.
Thanks. I know it can be a strange charge, but may I compel you to give us you testimony of experiences through example.

Absolutely beautiful Carolyn!! It's chilling, and a great share for ALL of us!! [I have gooseflesh]

But truly, your blog is still a way with dealing with your life with your precious loved ones...you've just extended your friendship list. And I hope that I'm included as you are for me.

It's so neat to find just what we need from God's Word just when we need it. I have been ministered to by many of these verses as well. One of my favorites is Isaiah 41:10: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." It's wonderful to know that whatever He is allowing me to go through, He is right there with me to strengthen and help.
