Our Christmas
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We did! On Sunday we all went over to the kids Dad's for Christmas at their house. When we were first divorced I stayed home on Christmas Eve and got everything ready for the next day. I always called my Mom and we visited while I was waiting for the girls to come home. After Mom was gone, they started inviting me to come along, too. Bill,Becky and their family came too. After we opened gifts the kids Dad, had bought Deli trays and we had all kinds of meats and cheeses to choose from.
We came home and one of the girls from the sheltered work shop where Nancy worked for many years came over with her Mother and they exchanged gifts. We had a wonderful time visiting with them.We always have such a fun time with them.
On Christmas Eve we went up to Jeremy and Sofia to be with them and her Mother and Dad who had flew in from Mexico on the 20th! They had brought along one of their grand daughter who is eight years old and so cute! Sofia had a huge turkey in the oven and all kinds of wonderful food cooking!! We ate and ate and visited and then we opened gifts with the little great grand kids! OH What a joy that was!! Valerie and Kevin were adorable!! Karen had given baby Kevin a little tiny rubber hammer and Valerie grabbed it and took off for a wall that she had seen her Daddy hammering up a star!! She just loved it!!
Karen came over on Christmas morning and we opened our gifts and Nancy was a buzz over all her gifts and she is so fun to watch!! She liked everything ! Bill Becky and their family came up and Becky's Mom came too!!
Kelly cooked a ham and had mashed potato's, green bean casserole, sweet potato's, corn pudding, hot rolls, Becky brought a brisket and BBQ beans and some other stuff!! Kelly did a really did a good job and every one thought she did great! She had made all kinds of desserts!
We opened gifts with Bill's and that was fun too!! Jake left for a skiing trip to CO this morning that he was really looking forward too!! The girls and Sarah took off for the movies and saw the new national treasure movie. While they were gone our neighbor and his boys dropped in for a few minutes to exchange gifts with Nancy and of course that made Nancy's Christmas complete!! I talked a couple of times with the family in Guadalajara. They were all missing us and wishing they were all up here too!! We are hoping it works out next year they can all be here to have Christmas with us and their son's family's! We will post Christmas pictures later!!
I slept most of the afternoon today! No kidding! I shut my eyes and I was out!! Maybe on Thursday or Friday I will get out to all the blogs and catch up on your Christmas and read about what a lovely time you all had on Christmas!!

Christmas Blessings!
We had a wonderful blessing for our family last night. Nancy's chemo nurse from a couple of years ago called me a few weeks ago and said she and her friend were trying to teach their kids that Christmas is more then X boxes and a new video games. She asked if it would be okay if she and her friend and her friends kids could come over before Christmas and brings some gifts for Nancy, Kelly and me!
I said this would be great! Last night here they came like Santa in a sleigh jingling all the way!! She is a very giggly bubbly person with a great personality You would have to know Robin to know that I really mean this!!!
They came in with their kids laden down with gifts in all their arms! The kids were so precious! The boys were about 9 years old and they were so adorable carrying in the gifts! The little 7 year old girl was so cute and I guess she had helped wrapped and choose some of the gifts!!
We were so blessed by the their generosity that it brought me to tears!! What a lovely thoughtful way to be a blessing to someone at this time of the year!!
I thought I would have to scrape Nancy off the walls she was so excited!! She received two bags of socks and color books and dot to dot books and lotions! She wanted a nutcracker and they had got one for her! I put some of her gifts up for Christmas morning! We are so blessed by their kindness!
Back a couple of years ago when we found out Nancy had to have 6 months of chemo's treatment I had everyone I could think of praying for the right chemo nurse to be there for Nancy!
God answered our prayers with Robin and she said, at the time I want to do all of Nancy's chemo for the rest of the time and the nursing staff worked this out so she could!! She was able to make this so much fun for a special needs person that Nancy went around telling every body I love my chemo treatments!
I would have to explain to people that Robin made it enjoyable for her! She would buy her large Dr. Peppers drinks and make huge turkey sandwiches! We have been so blessed to have had two of the nicest chemo nurses at both hospital both times for her treatment of Lupus. We are so Blessed this Christmas to have Nancy stable, not worse,we would love for her to be better, but stable is good! Because last Christmas she was worse!! Praise God!!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!!

Seeing the Christmas Lights
This is it!! Five Days until Christmas!! I want to Thank everyone who stopped by yesterday and wished Kelly a Happy Birthday! This was so kind of everyone to take time out at this busy time of the year to wish her Birthday Greetings.
Karen knew of a business place that is decked out to the hilt (OH MY) and timed to music on a local FM station just for this display!! It was something to see!! We didn't get home until 11:30 and this is late for this old lady!! But it was a really fun time!! We always try to go out and see the lights on Kelly's Birthday!!

A Lovely E- mail with a Sweet Story
Adventure With Grandma
I remember my first Christmas adventure with Grandma. I was just a kid. I remember tearing across town on my bike to visit her on theday my big sister dropped the bomb: "There is no Santa Claus," she jeered. "Even dummies know that!" My Grandma was not the gushy kind, never had been. I fled to her that day because I knew she would be straight with me. I knew Grandma always told the truth, and I knew that the truth always went down a whole lot easier when swallowed with one of her world-famous cinnamon buns. I knew they were world-famous, because Grandma said so. It had to be true.
Grandma was home, and the buns were still warm. Between bites, I told her everything. She was ready for me. "No Santa Claus!" she snorted. "Ridiculous! Don't believe it. That rumor has been going around for years,&nb sp;and it makes me mad, plain mad. Now, put on your coat, and let's go." "Go? Go where, Grandma?" I asked. I hadn't even finished my second world-famous, cinnamon bun. "Where" turned out to be Kerby's General Store, the one store in town that had a little bit of just about everything. As we walked through its doors, Grandma handed me ten dollars. That was a bundle in those days.
"Take this money," she said, "and buy something for someone who needs it. I'll wait for you in the car." Then she turned and walked out of Kerby's. I was only eight years old. I'd often gone shopping with my mother, but never had I shopped for anything all by myself. The store seemed big and crowded, full of people scrambling to finish their Christmas shopping.
For a few moments I just stood there, confused, clutching that ten-dollar bill, wondering what to buy, and who on earth to buy it for.I thought of everybody I knew: my family, my friends, my neighbors, the kids at school, the people who went to my church. I was just about thought out, when I suddenly thought of Bobby Decker. He was a kid with bad breath and messy hair, and he sat right behind me in Mrs. Pollock's grade-twoclass. Bobby Decker didn't have a coat.
I knew that because he never went out for recess during the winter. His mother always wrote a note, telling the teacher that he had a cough, but all we kids knew that Bobby Decker didn't have a cough, and he didn't have a coat. I fingered the ten-dollar bill with growing excitement. I would buy Bobby Decker a coat! I settled on a red corduroy one that had a hood to it. It looked real warm, andhe would like that. "Is this a Christmas present for someone?" the lady behind the counter asked kindly, as I laid my ten dollars down. "Yes," I replied shyly. "It's for Bobby."
The nice lady smiled at me. I didn't get any change, but she put the coat in a bag and wished me a Merry Christmas. settled on a red corduroy one that had a hood to it. "It's for Bobby." The nice lady smiled at me. I didn't get any change, but she put the coat in a bag and wished me a Merry Christmas.
That evening, Grandma helped me wrap the coat in Christmas paper and ribbons (a little tag fell out of the coat, and Grandma tucked it in her Bible) and she wrote, "To Bobby, From Santa Claus" on the present--Grandma said that Santa always insisted on secrecy. Then she drove me over to Bobby Decker's house, explaining as we went that I was now and forever officially one of Santa's helpers. Grandma parked down the street from Bobby's house, and she and I crept noiselessly and hid in the bushes by his front walk. Then Grandma gave me a nudge. "All right, Santa Claus," she whispered, "get going." I took a deep breath, dashed for his front door, threw the present down on his step, pounded his doorbell and flew back to the safety of the bushes and Grandma. Together we waited breathlessly in the darknes for the front door to open. Finally it did, and there stood Bobby.
Fifty years haven't dimmed the thrill of those moments spent shivering, beside my Grandma, in Bobby Decker's bushes. That night, I realized that those awful rumors about Santa Claus were just what Grandma said they were: ridiculous. Santa was alive and well, and we were on his team.
I still have the Bible, with the tag tucked inside: $19.95. He who has no Christmas in his heart will never find Christmas under a tree.

Another Ice storm on the way!
Karen just left my house and Kelly was going to go out to Wal-Mart with her but when she went outdoors it was already raining and freezing!! Karen said it is starting to get slick! We are suppose to get a worse ice storm then we did over the weekend. It is 29 right now!! If I am not on here tomorrow it is because the power is out! In our area 5 years ago we had a terrible ice storm one of the worst in the history of Kansas City! It ruined many fine old trees that had been here for many many years! It made a mess out of my maple tree and it is just starting to look better. My pin oak withstood the ice better because it is younger. We were without power for three days and it was so cold!! What they are having in Oklahoma it is like what we had 5 years ago!! Please pray that we won't lose power. I have enough back up oxygen's tanks for Nancy for a few days and I have a lot of the little portable ones too!! We have food and meds so we are okay!! Just very cold!! Last time I wore a stocking hat, gloves and layers of clothes, and a coat!!
UPDATE
It is almost 2:30 and we still have power!! Praise God! It is a real mess outside and it is still raining and maybe a little sleet mixed in with it. There are a lot of outages over in the city and I heard up in St Joesph and their area there are thousands without power. Thank you for your prayers. It has stayed around 31 degrees and this is good.

What do the Holidays Mean to You?
What The Holidays Mean to You |
You celebrate the holidays in an over the top style. If something is cute, you'll buy it. People end up with a lot of gifts from you - and your house is like a holiday wonderland, full of decorations. During the holidays, you feel magical. You love all of the decorations and how happy people are. You like to sit back and take it all in. You think the holidays should be nostalgic and sweet. The holidays bring out your inner child. Your best holiday memories are of childhood foods and traditions. You secretly still wish you believed in Santa Claus. |
Once I get going on these Question deal meme I can't stop! This one sound about right!! I love the Christmas programs at church and the ones the choir puts on too!!
One year when Kelly was really little like about 5 she was in a Christmas program at church and had this part where she was to open the door and say Welcome to Mary and Joseph and she wouldn't do it and peeked her little face out the little window and said Welcome in a whisper! Only problem you could not see her or hear her! My Mother was there that night and she was really old at the time and it was a very cold night and she had made the effort to go and we couldn't hear or see her!! But we always talked and laughed about it later, the time Kelly wouldn't open the door or say Welcome!!
I think she was about six years old when she was an Angel at a Christmas play. She was wearing a plaid skirt and white tights with a halo and wings! As she sang her songs in the choir she danced, lifted her skirt, and twirled it around!! We just never knew what she was going to do in a Christmas Pageant!!

If I could Dance on my Street!
No they were mine and they were all GOOD! Everything! Everything was in the normal range! The Doctor was so pleased and so was I. He said whatever I was doing keep on doing it!
What a relief this is, I don't have to go back for more lab work until March!!
The weather was just cold and very windy no wintry mix! But now they say it is on the way for tonight while we sleep.
Kelly appointment went well, too. After the Dr.'s appointment Kelly and I went out to Wal-Mart to pick up Nancy 's meds. Nancy wanted mints with Christmas trees on them and she called me a zillions times to remind me to be sure and get them! I was able to and now she is happy! They aren't to eat but to put in a Christmas sack for one of her friends!
Tonight I am writing my Christmas letter! I skipped last year because I didn't want a another letter telling all about our sickness and my crippled up stuff. But things are better for the first time in a while so I can tell every one Nancy is not worse but stable!! Praise God! She only needs oxygen at nights and it has been a while since she needed it in the day time! I didn't do a Thankful Thursday but I do indeed have so much to be Thankful for each day!!

Happy Birthday Yesterday, Ale'! Update on Debbie
Kelly just had a message on her cell phone from a friend who knows Debbie too and Debbie went home to be with Jesus last night. I would really appreciate prayer for Nancy because this will be so hard for her. She isn't able to process this and will get mad about something that has noting to do with Debbie death. I have told my family when the time comes for me to go home and be with Jesus to try and understand if she is all mad about everything . It is her way of coping but if you don't know this you get upset your self because of her behavior. Thanks for praying.

What Holiday are You!! and What Christmas ornament are you?
You Are Easter |
What makes you celebrate: Almost anything. You love most holidays and celebrations. At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The peacemaker. You can prevent any squabbles that might break out. On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Remember to include everyone |
I was over at Jules Journal and saw this and thought this looks like fun Why not do it!! I am Easter!! How about that!
Both my teams lost their games this weekend. On Saturday night the Missouri Tigers lost the championship game to the Oklahoma Sooner.... Now instead of playing for the National Championship we have to hope we get a good bowl game!! This afternoon the Chiefs lost to the Chargers!! How's that for football weekend!! I really wanted MU to go all the way to the Fiesta Bowl! But its not to be! The Chiefs have tons of young players so will have to wait until next to see what they can do!! OK, Enough Whining about football!!
We didn't get the bad weather they said we were to have and I am so grateful we didn't get any ice!!
OK that was so much fun I did another one!!
This one is What Christmas Ornament are you? I was a tree!!
You are a tree |
